Cocina De Barrio

Service was incredibly poor — attitude, wait time for service, utensils & napkins were missing. The main thing is that cocktails and food items were forgotten about multiple times, and when we asked about their status, we were met with indifference. The cocktails that did make it to the table were delicious, I'll definitely give the bartender credit for that. We were a large party celebrating a birthday and the whole time we were there, we felt like an inconvenience to staff even though it was a slow Wednesday happy hour. Unfortunate.

Service was great. Menu was a little confusing for those who don't know authentic Mexican. They need to provide better explanation of what items are. Table side guacamole was delicious. A little chilly on the patio.

From the moment we walked into the door to meet our friends, until the time we left feeling pretty good about our Friday night, Cocina de Barrio aced all of our expectations and more. The hosts were just so welcoming and made our out of town guests feel right at home. It was Happy Hour and the bartender grinded out some of THE BEST Cadillac Margaritas in town...and our party of 5 enjoyed many of them. It was obvious that the folks that work at this restaurant aren't lazy, forgetful, or lacked knowledge of their food, OH NO. These folks gloriously worked the entire restaurant as a team, and boy was it fabulous. Delicious fish tacos, grilled shrimp tacos and fresh ceviche, along with delectable braised ribs in mole sauce were served up with perfect timing, and as we enjoyed our dishes and drinks, our server Manuel, was like a Ninja - appearing only when we we appeared to be getting low on something, and quick to replenish or take more of our orders very quickly. Amazing. Our table made a promise to one another that we'll definitely come back to Cocina de Barrio for more great nights of fun and feast, and to make sure we don't wait too long to do it! Ole!

They have the best Ribeye steak. So juicy and tender. I highly recommend this for those meat eaters

Super loud. We ordered 2 different chicken mole dishes. No joke, our meals came out 5 mins after we ordered. Plate felt like it had just been sitting under a heat lamp. Chicken was fine. Not too dry but nothing special. Veggies were over cooked. Certainly didn't feel like it deserved such a high rating. It was very basic

Truly excellent modern Oacaxan Mexican restaurant with superb food and great Mexican wines.

This place is an absolute gem! The service is warm and friendly and the food is fresh and delicious with lots of plant based offerings. I'm a big fan of their birria tacos and the table side guacamole is so good. Don't pass on drinks because the margaritas are all incredible, particularly the popsicle margarita (get the cherry popsicle, trust me!) and I'm looking forward to enjoying this spot all summer long!

I might not have booked a reservation if I had known this place was in a strip mall, but I'm glad I did. The ambience inside was lovely. Our server was great. And the food was truly phenomenal. Try the ceviche and the wines from Valle de Guadalupe. 

Great drinks, food and service! So glad I found this place! It is only 18 months old and is the best Mexican place we've eaten at in North County. The food is very authentic and unique. You can tell that the chefs worked at every thing on the menu to make it the most flavorful and tasty possible. You need to check this place out!

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant for Cinco De Mayo! Our service was outstanding, and the food was terrific. We will definitely be back soon!

Everything was perfect from the moment we walked in the door to when we walked out. The food, the service, the vibe, everything was really good!

We love the flavors at Cocina de Barrio. We have enjoyed their excellent happy hour a few times, and finally came for dinner. We ordered the Memelitas Veganas, Pescado Zarandeadp, and Salmon en Mole Amarillo. Every dish was superb, and the service was excellent!

The food and service are great here. We had the short rib mole, salmon yellow mole, chicken with green mole, and lamb shank, along with the tableside prepared guacamole.  All of them were delicious although the salmon was overcooked. 

food was phenomenal, my third time here! service is a bit slow but the food makes up for it 100x over
