We were visiting the Carlsbad/Encinitas area and searched for local pizza. Hammer's popped up and we were excited to try. It did not disappoint! This really reminded me of pizza from a place a few blocks away from Madison Square Garden. Thin crispy crust cooked to perfection and the cheese was so flavorful. Their house made ranch also completed this meal!
One of the best NY Pies I've had since I was in NYC a few years ago. The cheese pie was pretty perfect, not too much cheese or sauce, crust was firm and a bit crunchy, no end of slice droop here. We're from Phx AZ where finding a great NY pie is touch and go. The owner was great to talk to and is very knowledgeable about food, Pizza for sure, Hammer's NY Pizza is our go to place for Pizza from now on when we visit the SD area, Thx for the great pizza.
The owner was really nice and accommodating. Pizza was not good, my wife was not happy. I was really excited to read about the family history of secret dough, and it was tasty but turned to cardboard quickly after cooking. I felt the amount of cheese was lacking for my taste. The sauce was perfect amount and very good. That was it.
