Consistently high quality and delicious. There is a reason this place is busy everyday. Trust their specials. They are on point!

Didn't get pictures of the sushi cuz we ate it so quickly. So fresh and delicious! We loved the crunchy roll (no shortage of crunch). The salmon sashimi was great as well. Overall, this is the perfect spot to grab lunch/dinner.

This is a funky, earthy place. Incredible food and really friendly and informal staff. The space is small and the chairs at the bar not super comfortable, but it has a great beach vibe and most importantly tasty food. I had a strawberry mojito flavored hard kombucha on draft, very good. The server had lots of recommendations and I went with the Grandview roll and the Crispy rice. Both were great. Spicy and a touch pricy, but it’s sushi and California so not unexpected. Overall, a good spot to grab some tasty eats and experience a little local culture. I’d go back!

First time here and we were very happy with it. It is a small place so expect a wait. We were told an hour but got seated in less than 40 minutes. The service was good and both specialty rolls we got were delicious. Looking forward to going back!

Nothing bad to say about this establishment. Small restaurant located on the 101 offering traditional style sushi among other dishes. I ordered a California and Crunchy roll along with a Miso Soup, some fried Gyoza, a beer and some ice tea. My total came out to about $60 (not including tips). The service was not bad and our waiter along with a younger gentleman took care of us. I'm very pleased and will definitely come back. Definitely check this spot out!

Bummed by the treatment at Kai Ola tonight. This was probably our 10th (and last) time coming to this restaurant. We had a 6pm reservation for 3 people at the sushi bar. At 7pm, the hostess/waitress came & told us that they had "A LOT" of other reservations and it was time to go. In the 1 hour we were there, we ordered $165 of food/drinks and had paid the bill. We were finishing our drinks & were wrapping it up. There are so many amazing sushi spots in North County SD so we will take our business elsewhere next time.

Don't know why the hype on this place. The food is edible, but my problem is not the food- it's the service. The waitstaff is inattentive and I get that good things take time but our wait was far too long for a weekday...can't say I was impressed.

I was really disappointed about the service, nobody asked if we want drinks and we waited over 45 min for sushi wich was not good at all.

Kai Ola is by far the BEST sushi I've ever had. Not only is the restaurant homey and warm, but the chefs are friendly, the menu is creatively unique & the rolls ALWAYS hit the spot. 12/10 will continue coming here weekly, highly recommend!!

I don't usually write reviews but i was shocked at how bad my experience was. super bright lighting, bad music, rude disingenuous staff, beyond expensive sushi

Grand view roll is freaking delicious. Hangover Ramen is just the ramen you have dreamed of. This place is so so good and the people are really nice and helpful. No wonder they are adding locations. My go to for ramen and sushi.
