Following the advice of a friend, reading the reviews, and above all seeing the long queue... We decided to go in?
Open kitchen, very busy evening and yet they served us quickly
I had an exceptional fish taco (gluten-free).

The person working as cashier right before closing tonight was extremely rude and derogatory. He got visibly mad when I was placing my order because I had a few items with customizations for allergens. It felt like wanted to start a physical altercation, this person doesn’t belong in customer service, and honestly someone like this tarnishes the brand…you should probably reconsider having him onboard.

I used to frequent their La Jolla location on a monthly basis and my wife and I would go to this location for late night tacos on date nights. I'm extremely disappointed with my latest visit. The size of the burrito has shrunk again and now the carne asada burrito has bean FILLER. The why would you put bean filler into a carne asada burrito? You're the Taco Stand NOT Taco Bell ? Not to mention they limit salsa to 1 tiny container that's barely half filled. Taco Stand you broke my heart.
Update: The Encinitas location is just no good. Their staff isn't very well trained in customer service.

Don’t go there if there is a queue of more than 5 people! We thought we were smart and would skip the queue by ordering online for take-out, which said 20-25 mins. We ended up waiting 60 mins for our food, and I saw multiple people waiting that long, clearly annoyed. Staff seemed to care little (although the people behind the counter were kind).
Additionally, we were double charged on the online booking system, but I do not think that is the store’a fault.
Anyways, all in all a very unpleasant experience which stole us lots of time and left us really annoyed, since we were hungry.
Food was okayish.
Vegetarian options: Very few vegetarian options. The cheese and bean is somewhat plain, however, good value for money.

Favorite burrito in the area. The line is usually kinda long but man, that burrito is sooo good. Fresh home made tortilla, delicious, well-cooked ingredients with tons of flavor. Fully worth it. And only $10 for a large burrito is crazy these days.

Dogs are allowed.
However, there are limited parking options and outdoor space needs better cleanliness

We arrived at the place around 8pm, there was no one in line - the place was a bit busy but nothing too crazy.
Well, it was 30min wait time for a burrito.
During that wait time a lot happened. Someone in our party went back to ask something about their order. They were told they were no beans left for the burritos we had ordered. After multiple back and forth, it seemed they did have enough for our orders. There is no communication between cooks and cashier because of language barrier. That was just weird experience.
Indeed like some reviews mention, the tables outside don’t seem to get cleaned much.
I liked the food. The asada was good for me.
I guess the price is decent for the amount of meat you get in the burrito, but don’t expect much more.
Some diced tomatoes, some beans and a tiny bit of guacamole on only one small side of the burrito. Asked for salsa on the side, but didn’t get anything. The tortilla was a bit cold as well.
It’s kinda disappointing because again the ingredients are good. But, just the overall experience is not there.
