The spicy tonkatsu ramen is the best!

We’ve been driving past Mikko Sushi for ages, and finally lucked out with a parking spot (feels like winning the lottery these days). And wow — Mikko Sushi did not disappoint! We had the Caterpillar Roll, Escondido Roll, and miso soup. For the kids, teriyaki chicken with rice and dumplings — all delicious. They even had “Crush,” which is basically Mikko’s take on Fanta, and the kids loved it.
The flavors were fresh and moist and balanced, I guess…. and honestly, pictures just don’t do the food justice. The place is spotless, the crew is refreshingly friendly and caring, and it’s always nice to see the owners right there serving guests. Highly recommend — just cross your fingers for parking!

This is the 5th time now that my order has been wrong. The 5th time, I've not only had an item removed from my roll because I specifically requested a side of it (not for it to be removed) AND to not even get the side of the item requested. $32 and an hour wasted on a doordash order just to throw away the entire roll because you take off the eel sauce and dont even give me a side of it.. thank you SO much.

Absolutely stellar experience at Mikko Sushi in Escondido! From start to finish, this spot exceeded every expectation.
The sushi was incredibly fresh and expertly prepared—we tried the Dragon Roll, Escondido Roll, and Dynamite specialty roll, and each bite was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented . The seaweed salad was perfectly balanced, and the spicy tonkotsu ramen was rich and satisfying .
The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely caring—staff greeted us promptly, offered helpful recommendations, and even celebrated our evening with a complimentary dessert when they heard it was a special night . The restaurant environment felt clean, welcoming, and well-maintained throughout

I’ve been to this restaurant a couple times for their lunch special (bento boxes!). I had their sushi today (Dragon roll and Escondido roll)— it’s deeeelicious! My fav sushi spot in Escondido, to be honest. But, what I loved the most was the service; they were so quick and attentive. I had water at all times, they cleared the table for our meal without any hassle. 1000/10 would come again!

Very fresh sushi, fast service, super clean place! We will definitely be back
Update*** while we were absolutely understanding of them being unable to accommodate allowing someone bringing food inside, we were told that the manager does not allow anyone (Staff) to move tables or to push tables together for the guests. So the statement that was made in the comment replying to this is inaccurate. Maybe there is a staffing issue and someone needs to speak to the manager but we were told by not only a staff member but also the manager that they do not move tables. And the employee told us that their manager was very strict on not moving any tables. So that comment was false in the reply.
I have been to Mikko many times and have had some pretty okay experiences but this time was the worst. My family came in to enjoy lunch to celebrate nephews promotion(this is his favorite restaurant). When we entered we were shown a table (place was pretty empty and we were going to be a group of 8) we asked if we could sit outside (due to someone in our party having a shellfish allergy) so they could still sit with us. We asked if it was okay if they sat outside with us with other food (crazy I know) so they could still enjoy a meal with us. We were told no, not a big deal there was a table on the other side of the fence they would sit at. But we were told we couldn't eat outside because the manager wouldn't allow them to push two tables together??? I've never seen a restaurant not accommodate a large party like that when it was that empt. We decided to eat elsewhere as the staff had been unwelcoming and we were left with no choice. I can understand not allowing other food in but to turn away a large party that would have brought in a large bill because they wouldn't want to push TWO tables that were right next to each other together is an interesting choice. I could understand not being able to it if it was busy, but saying no when the restaurant was dead is not great. We have decided to not dine here again.
