Great food for the price, good service, nice relaxed atmosphere. If you dine in, they bring you chips & salsa, and sauces for your food, so don't bother with the salsa bar unless you're doing take-out.Parking: Shared mall parking, with 5-6 spots in front of the restaurant reserved for restaurant guests.

I have eaten in and taken out here before, but it's been a while so I had a refresher visit. Food: I had a grilled chicken taco and shrimp taco. They were both good and good size. $12 for both, I wish they had grilled fish. Food was not too salty, which was a plus for me. Tasted fresh. There were different kinds of salsas and sauces available to flavor the food the way you want. Chips and red salsa if you eat in. The wait for the food was reasonable. Ambiance: Super clean everywhere!! The dining room was good size, well-decorated and welcoming with real flowers on each table! The dining room was a bit dark and "cavy", but the bright decor was bringing it up. The tables were separate enough. A large screen TV was silently playing sports. I could feel the pride of ownership in how they kept this place clean. They use real utensils and plates for eating in. No plastic forks and plates here. It definitely made me feel that this place was more than a takeout joint. Service: The young lady at the counter was nice and friendly. A couple of ladies came around in the dining room, and asked if everything was fine. Very nice touch! This is like a real restaurant for a takeout price! This is a great neighborhood place. I'll be back for sure!

I NEVER review anything unless it takes me by surprise in a good way. I got the fish burrito which was only $6.99 and my girl got the ham breakfast burrito. Dollar for dollar, the best fish burrito I've had in esco hands down. The chipotle crema, the batter, the fish to veggie ratio, and the size were perfect. I ate the whole thing while driving. I had to steal a bite from my girl's breakfast burrito and it was smackin. First time in a long time that I bit into breakfast burrito and wasn't met with a face full of grease. Service was real quick even with one cook on a Sunday. Sauces could have a bit more kick to em but we'll be back FS!

We underestimated just how good 'That Mexican Place' would be. The lady who greeted us and took our order was very friendly, and whoever prepared our meals did an AWESOME job as they were delicious. The portions are very generous- we could not eat all they gave us. The facility was very clean. We forgot to take photos of our meals, but I had Chile Verde (pork in green sauce) and my wife had steak fajitas. Their horchata is also very good but I wish they used larger cups. Twice they came by to check on us, so they care about customers. We look forward to going back again.

The combos are delicious and the service is friendly. The Ranchero breakfast burrito is perfection.

This are the worst enchiladas I've ever had in my 33 years of life.

If you come here check your order before you leave they messed up my order twice In a row both times was an egg bean and cheese burrito and both times they put no egg this has got to be one of the most simple items to make how do you forget 1 of 3 ingredients it only has 3 things in it.

Solid Mexican food at a reasonable price with good sized portions. Remember how that was normal for places like this 10 years ago? Well, this place is doing it how it should be done. Nothing fancy.

Best Mexican food in Escondido. No unnecessary fats, grizz, and grease in your burrito, just food.

Tell the little lady that cleans the bathrooms that you close at 10p… Harassing a person because they want to use the bathroom as a paying customer isn’t the best business practice..

Truly one of the worst burritos I've had in a very long time. I got a bean and cheese burrito and paid for extra cheese and rice. There was nearly no cheese and less than 1/2 cup of rice. It was flaccid, poorly made, and a true disappointment.

I should preface the review by stating that I did get the order to go and did not eat at the restaurant. I just moved to the area and needed to get some food for my husband, a friend that helped us move, and myself. I decided to head over to the restaurant to start orienting myself with the area. I did look up the place online first. Hubby wanted tacos but couldn't decide which ones. I noticed online that they had mini tacos. Going into the restaurant, the menu did not have them listed. I asked, and sure enough they still serve them. I got 1 of each plus a shrimp taco for him. Chile verde for our friend. And two tacos for myself (shrimp & chicken) with a side of beans and fries. Hubby and I liked the shrimp tacos. The rest of the tacos missed the mark. The chicken taco was dry and flavorless. Our friend with the Chile verde opened his box to find that he got something that looked like a mole. Whatever it was, it was not a Chile verde unfortunately. To be fair, I should have checked before leaving but honestly, I'm a taco gal so I probably wouldn't know what I'm looking at anyway. The other thing I found super strange is that I wasn't given any chips. I asked about it and was told you only get chips if you eat inside. I find this to be incredibly strange. I wasn't even given the option to purchase chips. And let's face it, the meal is not complete without some chips and salsa. Not going to ding the place for this and maybe that's just the difference between NorCal Mexican restaurant vs SoCal but the cashier didn't know what plantains are when I asked if they have any. This was the first time I came across a Mexican restaurant without them. On the positive, I was happy to be able to purchase some beers for the guys who were working hard on unpacking. Being inside, I didn't find the place to be too inviting. I'll probably continue to search for my new taco place because this one isn't it.

Delivery/ food review: Great food and very big portions. We always order delivery and the breakfast, tacos and burritos are everything!

I went to this restaurant because I heard good things from a coworker first impression when you come inside is that it's your regular over-the-counter Mexican food place then you go into the dining room it was extremely hot no air-conditioning and they bring out a small cup of chips and some fresh salsa The food was OK nothing special even for an Alberto type place and the prices were extremely inflated for what it was service wise. They bring your food out for you pick up the chips and make sure you have brand new salsa containers that haven't been out of the fridge for too long I'm assuming this is so that they can rotate them in and out of the refrigerator so that they won't spoil, but I recommend this place not as your first choice but if you couldn't get anywhere else, this place might do just know that the prices are gonna be high
