The food was outstanding as well as the service. Small place so either go early or make a reservation. The pork chops, pizza and appetizers were delicious.
October 9, 2022 it is open on Monday’s...the “main” restaurant only, the wine bar is closed Monday.. Both rooms quite small so a reservation is necessary. We were assigned the “wine bar” which has a vacant storefront between..I heard they wanted to get the intervening space but government zoning would not allow. So the “wine bar” has the same menu as the restaurant but the waiter has to schlep the food from the main restaurant outside to the wine bar. Be not dissuaded...the menu is the same and there is seamless service.
Two nights ago we stayed in eureka and heard about this restaurant. It's a small, lovely place that reminded me of places in France. The service was supreme and the food excellent. They do change it up, which is great if you live there. The mushroom cobbler (yes, that's what I said) was scrumptious. Try it! We also had the stuffed grilled calamari-- also very tasty. We had grilled pizza and stuffed portobello dish with egg on top as entrees. We both left this place very content! Look forward to returning!
I used Tripadvisor to find a nice place to eat in Eureka while on my trip north on California Hwy 1. It lived up to it's reputation for a very nice dining experience with great food and service. The owners use locally sourced products as much as possible and turn out great tasting entrees. It is a very popular local restaurant so I would recommend you make reservations if you are in Eureka and want a nice place to dine.
You have to make sure to make an appointment. We didn't have a reservation and had to sit outside. They were nice enough to give us blankets. Food was pretty good. Their signature dish is definitely worth a taste.
Must-try: Piazza.Top rated Italian restaurant in Eureka. Overall great dining experience with very welcoming service in a lovely town.Started with Wild Mushroom Cobbler, we have Piazza and steak as the main dishes. They are both delicious and the Piazza taste especially amazing with simple components. For dessert my friend ordered ice cream. I tried black chocolate truffle with duck fat. It has a bit salt on it's top while the truffle itself is not rich of flavor of duck.
My aunt and I stopped here on our road-trip - we ordered a mushroom pizza, and a sausage pizza. The sausage and pizza crust are both homemade. We learned that many of the vegetables and mushrooms are grown in the restaurant’s garden :)
This restaurant doesn't need another positive review, but they deserve it. Eat here if you enjoy creative, well prepared, delicious food. Stuffed calamari are very difficult to get right - if overcooked, they get tough, shrink, and burst - but not here. The roasted Caesar salad was on par with what I've enjoyed in Italy. The pizza was perfect and delicious. Wines are interesting and reasonably priced. Plus the wait staff are friendly and attentive. No wonder the restaurant was humming on a Thursday night.
Excellent grilled/fired and other specialties, great use of local foods like mushrooms. A sweet, red-toned interior makes for an intimate experience, if a touch on the loud side, which is hep anyways. Good wine pairings and creative desserts too. Service was subtle and excellent. Definitely a must visit, a top choice in eureka.
What a wonderful find - thank you TripAdvisor. Gabriella was so helpful with her recommendations and answering our questions. Small town charm, amazing food and great wine. Bacon wrapped figs, snap peas, gazpacho, Alaskan cod special, chocolate cheesecake, sorbet and a truffle! All amazing. A great date night after two years. Arrive early/at opening or make a reservation.
Margarita Pizza was outstanding. The crust was consistently crispy from center to edge. Service was very fast and the server was friendly. My friend had a pizza with peach. He loved it. The calamari appetizer was entirely underwhelming. It was tiny and expensive. Easy to find curb parking outside. I'd eat here again.
Clean plates say it all! And I'm not ashamed to say we enjoyed appetizers and dessert too. We started with the Mushroom Cobbler which was the main draw for us and it did not disappoint in the slightest. Obviously we were expecting something savory but this was just magic. We also did the Study of Wild Mushrooms and though they didn't compare the cobbler, they were still quite good. For entrees my boyfriend had the Fettina Steak and I went with the Polenta Lasagna. I was somewhat disappointed that the menu had changed from what I saw online and the dish I wanted was no longer available (the rockfish sounded amazing) but both entrees were great. The potatoes au gratin that came with the steak were a showstopper. I don't think I've ever seen my fella dive into a dish containing dairy with such reckless abandon and I'm happy to say neither of us regretted it. That tells me this place uses top quality ingredients because the cheap stuff gives him the bloats. For dessert we did the seasonal ice cream (cabernet flavor) and cookies with a single Irish Cream truffle. The ice cream was perfection and I'd be in trouble if it was available by the pint. The only criticism I have, and it's not really, is that this place is pretty small. We were very fortunate that we arrived shortly after they opened and they had a table available. However, I will say that the size seemed like the perfect balance between kitchen staff and patrons. Nobody waited long for their food and it was a room full of smiles. Reservations recommended.
It's been a few years since I've previously been to Brick and Fire, but it's still just as great. I love that their menu is seasonal, one of the dishes that I had was the peach caprese salad and it was perfect, fresh peaches, basil, soft mozzarella with arugula and greens. They always have great things on their menu, wonderful for light meals, but they have great entrees that are more filling as well
