Have loved it in the past but recent experience was disappointing. Oysters were not crispy, fish was overcooked, long wait due to understaffing despite a nearly empty restaurant; we were told conflicting information by various staff (no reservations for outdoor seating, we’ll get seated outside if space opens up - there were empty tables but we were not seated and then were told that there’s now a waitlist even though I called in advance, asked the staff upon arrival, checked in with them, and we were there for an hour before ordering)
I called in advance to ask about lunch and was told that it gets busy at 12. So we show up early only to learn that lunch does not start until 12 (we were only given breakfast menus), so we had to wait to order.
The server we got was underage, and we were told she could not take our drink orders. So then we had to wait for another server to become available (remember they are understaffed).
We got mimosas, and when we wanted to order more were told that we had the only available containers already and need to return them first. (How can a restaurant that serves lunch on the waterfront not have more containers available for mimosas?)
A brunch we were excited for (even brought a first time visitor to Humboldt here!) ended up being incredibly underwhelming and disappointing. We had a large group and likely won’t return again.
All this said, the staff did their best and they were patient and helpful. Though we can’t help but wonder if their chef was out or if this place has just gone downhill.
I’m told that Jack’s is a much better option if you’re looking to get fresh seafood.

When we walked in and sat down and asked about recommendations the waiteress pointed out literally the 3 most expensive items on the list and didn't mention her opinion just said they were well spoken for. The highlight was the clam chowder which was actually really good and if you wanted to get anything here I would recommend that but the red snapper had little to no flavor it felt like I was eating just seasoning. The prawns were caked in so much teriyaki I couldn't even barely taste the meat and the steaks they offered were so thin that although we asked for medium rare it was going to come out well done regardless.

The fried oysters were gummy and bland. However, the fish in the fish and chips was reported to have been quite tasty.

Love the morning breakfast here!
I think they had an off night. The chowder was served hot, in a timely manner and was great tasting, giving us hope for this restaurant. The rest of the service and food was ok. We waited quite awhile before the rest of the meal came. The fish tacos were barely warm and the fries were not even warm. The halibut was cooked well but I think it sat awhile before it was served. The atmosphere was nice, the staff was helpful but I think they were overwhelmed and it was just an off night. I hope...

Looked for dog friendly restaurants. This one came up. When we arrived the young man at the front said he would seat us outside only if our dog was a service dog, odd I’ve never heard that requirement for an outdoor patio. But it’s a nice location.

My wife and I have visited this restaurant several times. I love it. The staff was very kind to us the entire time that we were there. It did take it a little long to get our food due to how busy they were at the time. But it was worth the wait, and the scenery was quite excellent and relaxing. Do try the oyster shots!

I debated leaving this review but in the end thought I'd share. Me and my family went in for dinner, five of us, around 5:00 pm on 7/12/25. The restaurant wasn't very busy. We were sat down right away. We ordered quickly. The calamari strips were wonderful as an appetizer. Our soups and salads came out in a short amount of time and the clamp chowder was very tasty. Thats where. The positive things end. From there we waited about 50 min for our main courses. The waitress dropped them off really quickly and was gone. We didn't see her again until she brought the check. I tried to put the butter on my baked potato but it was cold and the butter didn't melt at all. I checked the temperature on my steak, shrimp, green beans only to find they were all cold. I thought mine was the only one so I started eating it anyway. My dad then told me his fried oysters tasted horrible. I took a small bite and spit it out. Worst thing I've ever tasted. My mom's halibut special was also cold and tasted just ok. My son said his steak, shrimp, rice and mashed potatoes were cold and the food was equivalent to school food. The steak was tough. My daughter ordered the snapper tacos and those were the only decent meal we got. I was so very disappointed with our last meal in Eureka. We spoke to the manager on site. She said they were down a server so they were doing their best. She apologized for the food quality but was not sincere at all. She was just trying to get us out of there as quickly as possible. What a let down. We will never go back.
