Great restaurant and lovely bar too. The food can be on the heavy side but it’s a place to go when you want to live it up.That said they do have some great small plates and you can’t miss the bread and herbed oil sauce - it’s another level of delicious. And yes it’s just bread and herbs and olive oil but hot dang it is done superbly. Don’t snooze on this.Love coming here - highly recommend.

I have been here numerous times . Every single time it’s been great the focaccia bread with the cheese and honey side is amazing.I did go there for Valentine’s Day and it paled in comparison to all other days in terms of the food . Everything seemed as if it was prepared in bulk for that day.I understand it was a very busy holiday day and they were trying to keep up with the huge demand of Valentine’s Day .I chose this place to take my partner for v day because of how great they are EVERY SINGLE TIME I been there but I really feel the ball was dropped on v dayEvery one has on off day , and I will still definitely come back and recommend them to every one I know

I stopped into several bars in the Old Town district. At Tavern 1888, the bartender, Ethan, made the perfect Old Fashioned. Perfect proportions of all the right ingredients, asked me which rye or bourbon I would prefer. This young man knows exactly how to make a perfect cocktail.

Food was outstanding, waitress went above an beyond. She was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. Loved the atmosphere. The reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of the hostess. We had a reservation and ended up having to wait 30 min for it. She didn't offer us drinks from the bar while we waited. We had to stand in the way to try and order drinks. While she just stood there watching us. She never told us our table was ready. We had to go ask her after 30 min. I'm hoping she was new and it's a training issue. Otherwise definitely a 5 star experience.

I'm only giving this place four stars because there really aren't many choices in Eureka California. The food was OK. Nothing to write home about. I did get great service from our waitress while I was there for the Canafest. The ambience had a fairly nice vibe also.

DO NOT GO TO THE PARTIES HOSTED AT THIS PLACE, Oh man, where to even begin I've gone to this place for the past year sporadically and it was good somtimes and bad somtimes but during the halloween party last year I went with my girlfriend and a group of her friends and one of her friends got ruffied and told us she was feeling woozy so we left and the next day she didnt remmber anything besides getting there. I told the owner jenny what happened and they ignored us and tried to gaslight us and said it could never happen there, well it did. Do not go here
The space is so gorgeous! The ceilings! We counted 43 pillows! Plant cuttings everywhere! The poke tower was beautiful and delicious and the steak was absolutely divine! Everyone was so nice, friendly and attentive. We were so glad we came- highly recommend!

Dinner at Tavern 1888 was exceptional! The beautifully restored inn is a focal point of Eureka's interesting historic distric. To start, they serve creative and delicious craft cocktails. They have also pulled off a dining room that is both dark and cozy (with rich color and restored period pieces like the beautiful wooden bar and pressed metal ceiling), but where it is easy to read the menu and see the well presented food, because of their use of discrete and focused table lighting. Lucky for us, the catch of the day was wild caught Alaskan King Salmon and it was superb. The staff's attention to details and the professional, personal service were also top notch. Highly recommended.

Tavern 1888 is in a lovely historic hotel, “Inn at 2nd & C”. Walking in for our reservation, I caught a view of the 2 chiefs artfully finishing a couple of plates. Their professionalism was easy to see. Our wait staff was great, and we ordered 2 of the dinner specials. Both meals were exceptional, and the King Salmon was cooked perfectly and served beautifully with farm fresh veggies.
