I came here with my family on a weekend and it was slammed. They were out of macaroni and cheese and pretty much everything we wanted. So we had to order stuff we weren't interested in because we wanted to review the restaurant.

They also don't have any plates or anything, they put everything on one tray and they expect you to eat off the tables or off the tray even though you have a party of three or four.

They are also only open on weekends, so tough luck for anybody that wants to come here throughout the week or for lunch time if you work at Intel, rocketdyne or somewhere nearby.

Tables are pretty dirty, they don't have anybody that cleans them. Tables are also very high and awkwardly placed, so everybody walking in or out rubs against you if you're sitting by the door. It's like sitting at a bar in a high stool. They also don't have anyone that takes out the trash and it was overflowing onto the floor. It was very difficult to throw our trash away.

Food was mediocre, it was cold, it wasn't the stuff we wanted, seems like they don't make enough or they just don't have any of the stuff that they have on the menu. A lot of the food is salty and the barbecue sauce is more like ketchup than anything. Ribs were dry, brisket was dry and the pulled pork was extremely salty. Again, all of the food was cold.

The owner was really cool and the employees are super nice. The service was pretty good, minus cleaning the tables and taking out the trash.

After we finished, I wanted to order some pork ribs for some other family members to try out but while I was in line, they said they were out of ribs. So again, constantly out of product... All they had left was the expensive food that people didn't want to buy like the beef ribs and stuff. I actually saw people get out of line and leave because of this, including myself. I just stepped out a line and left instead.

I would honestly rather have a large chain barbecue like buckhorn or some other local joint. Overall, if you are a barbecue fan, I would give this place a shot but don't come in with your expectations high. If it's still around in a year or two, I will check it out again and update my review. Until then, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

Just tried it today to-go. A pound of brisket and a pound of beef ribs. Pricey but oh-so-worth it! We will be back. Folsom folks , please support and keep this gem of a
barbecue joint thriving!

Arrived about 10 minutes after opening, line was to the door. They were quick and efficient, probably took 15 minutes for the line. Ordered the big tray, which comes with the brisket, turkey, pork ribs, two sides and dessert. We added the small beef rib, hot sausage and extra sides. For the sides we had the Mac and cheese, cheesy grits, baked beans, Brunswick stew, and corn bread, for the dessert we had the chess cake.

The meats were all excellent. The turkey was moist, and flavorful. We will be ordering extra next time we come back. We were given the choice between fatty or lean for the brisket, went with fatty and it was melt in your mouth good. The beef rib is worth the extra cost, and so so good, we will be getting a large order next time. The pork ribs were large, full of flavor and moist. The hot sausage had an excellent, spicy flavor, sooo good.

For the sides, the baked beans were sweet, savory and well balanced. The cheesy grits were creamy with notes of butter and cheese. The Brunswick stew is made with several of their meats and you can taste the smoke, such good flavor. The Mac and cheese was AMAZING, super flavorfull and my only regret is not getting more. The corn bread was good, and while I certainly have no complaints but with everything being so delicious I would prioritize other choices. I also can not not mention the pickles and onions, hopefully they will can these and have them available to purchase separately in the future.

For the dessert, we chose the chess cake. This was good, but very sweet, next time we will try the sweet potato pie but again the chess cake was delicious but a little too seeet for me.

Belly BBQ is insanely good. We will be back. Our only regrets for our visit; should have ordered extra turkey, extra mac and cheese and should have taken photos.

Reminds me of actual Texas BBQ. Including the we have it until we sell out feature.

We got there around 130pm on a Sunday and they had sold out of turkey, brisket, and ribs. They still had all sides available.

Having been to many BBQ spots in Texas, I was familiar wilth this concept and I have zero problem with it. The owner Marcus was there and they really took care of us because they felt bad their supply was so low.

The food was OUTSTANDING!! They had enough turkey and brisket that we could sample. The samples were FANTASTIC. We got pulled pork and sausage. Both were GREAT! The mac and cheese, collard greens, and baked beans were our favorite sides and were worth a trip back, just for those items.

They also have sweet potato pie for dessert and it, of course, was AMAZING!

I know they have limited hours, but this is worth a trip just to get some authentic, pit smoked BBQ!

This is the real deal if you are a true southern style BBQ fan. The brisket and the pulled pork were point. The owner and staff were welcoming and clearly focused on perfecting their food. I don’t know of any other place in the Sac region that is as good as this one. I will be back.. a lot.

I had a chance to try the food for the first time today. The owner and his staff felt like humble, genuine people who care about their craft. The food was amazing (if you're a fan of spicy, the hot sausage was full of flavor). My wife and I had the chance to try the tray that feeds two, and it was plenty of food for us. The turkey was moist, smoky, and had great texture. The mac and cheese was excellent, and we even got to try their chess cake, which was fantastic.

Best barbecue in California. I lived in Texas, the barbecue capital, and this is as good or better than the best joints out there. Brisket melts in your mouth. Fall off the bone ribs. Sides are awesome. So glad they’re in the neighborhood.

This is what folsom/whole Sac area is looking for. What a delicious bbq!!! tried brisket, pork ribs, house sausage and chess cake, everything is perfect, taste and tenderness at right on point! Sides are also great, plenty of delicious options! The owner is great guy, definitely my bbq place moving forward!
