it has become way to expensive for us , our salaries haven't changed , we used to come at least twice a month , now maybe once a month . fun place but too pricey for what you get . used to hear it compared to gayle's in capitola , california ,maybe.... it's a stretch but the prices shouldnt be like capitola . also outdoor patio heaters would be nice .

This place is awful and unorganized. They ruined our daughter's first birthday cake. Our daughter's party was on a Saturday at 2pm. We were told her cakes would be ready by noon. We get there at 1pm thinking we would just get in and out but it wasn't finished! We sat there waiting for over 30 minutes while the employees messed with the edible letters. They gave us the cake with three of the four letters. The other missing letter they gave to us in a plastic container because it was broken. Yes, you read that right. BROKEN. These fools actually had nerve to hand us a sloppy unfinished cake and then charge our card for it. Luckily we were able to glue the letter back together to insert it into the cake but it didn't look good at all. The glitter was missing and you could see the cracks in it. The cakes tasted horribly. We were so embarrassed. They both had this awful bland coconut taste even though they were supposed to be a simple vanilla and a simple chocolate. Our daughter smashed her cake in her high chair and when she tasted it I could tell she was not enjoying it. We tried to get her to keep eating it but she shook her head no repeatedly. We ended up throwing out both of them because our families didn't eat any. We discussed making her first cake ourselves and we strongly wish we had listened to our gut and done that. Betty Crocker tastes way better than whatever garbage we were given. Karen's Bakery, you truly suck at life.

This place is such a perfect place to meet for lunch or a quick coffee in the morning. Mind you, all the bikers stop here for sustenance before or after their ride on the trail. Also, the seasonal salads are delicious. Especially the Chinese chicken one. I just wish it was a slightly bigger portion when you order one.

Great fresh breakfast! Delicious bakery with fresh breakfast food. The whole grain toast is awesome! Great coffee and baked goods as well. Kind friendly staff quick with service. Busy place with limited indoor seating due to the great food!

It saddens me to say, "I'm done frequenting Karen's Bakery after being a regular customer since 2007." The food quality has gone down as prices have greatly increased...but more than that, the customer service given by the younger staff has become dismal and rude. I've personally experienced nasty attitudes on three different occasions from three different gals. I've witnessed mistakes being made with employees becoming defensive and failing to take responsibility...instead blaming the customer. Eye rolling and snarky remarks towards patrons does not create an inviting culture. It never used to be this way. Though Karen's is within walking distance and I love supporting a business that has been near and dear to my heart for so many years, I no longer can support them and will be finding a new spot where hopefully courtesy and kindness can be found.

Love this place. Delicious food and nice atmosphere. Coffee is good as
I've tried to eat here 2 times recently but the kitchen is always closed and they've been out of most things. They seem to close it down an hour before the posted time of closing but I'm not sure you may have to call. If you can get here early the baked goods are among the best in the Sacramento area and the food is well above average.

Grilled tuna sandwich was delicious; service is what totally sucked. Tired of places that ask for a tip at payment and then provide no service. Our table which had been emptied by a staff person, was never wiped down. I ordered a coffee and then asked the server who brought it to me for sugar and she never returned. Incredibly poor and unresponsive service.
Great product
