I joined and supported this restaurant through Covid. Bought an annual "Gold Membership" for $100. Renewed the next year only to have the restaurant be closed for months at a time. There has been no communication about extending memberships, prices went up by 25% and portion size decreased dramatically. Very disappointing.

After deciding we were’t going to deal with crazy long lines at San Mateo, we found dine in option with Dozo. What a hidden gem! It’s a standard small mom-n-pops ran place with izakaya, sushi, sashimi and ramen choices. We ordered tempura rolls, agedashi tofu, ochazuke and deep fried soft shell crab.Pros: large portion, food comes out fast. Highly recommend the agedashi tofu and any rice based plates, because their rice is super soft high quality Japanese grain type.Cons: they really can clean up a lil bit more. Inside the restaurant was a little cluttered and messy, furniture worn. No frill place.Parking: lots of free parking around.

Great selection of sushi! This hidden gem is the perfect spot to go to for high quality fish and beautiful presentation :)

Nice restaurant with great ambiance, good quality tea, very good and delicated sushi rolls, nice chicken karage, and overall we are very satisfied with the quality and the taste of the foods we ordered.

Their sushi is soft and very well made! It may be a bit pricey but it’s definitely worth it.

I've been ordering take-out from here since the pandemic started. The quality is always consistent and flavorful. I really enjoy the selection, which is a combination of sushi and izakaya. Definitely one of my top picks when we're feeling like some Japanese comfort food

Came here for a family dinner with my mother, wife and kids. While the reviews were good the experience didn't match. The staff was nice enough but the speed of service was slow. Also, I ordered a $40 chirashi that was probably 30% overpriced and came in a disposable plastic bowl for dine in... the miso soup my wife ordered was in a paper cup, yet other things were on standard plates and bowls. By the time we finished eating, my mother was still waiting for her udon. Overall, it was not a place I would recommend or come back to again.

Decent sushi spot to satisfy your craving without having to pay outrageous prices. We ordered food for take-out and everything was packaged well. - Takoyaki (5 pieces for $8): Battered octopus ball. These were tasty, but doughier than I'm used to. Only 1 small piece of octopus in each ball. - Spider Roll (5 pieces for $11): Imitation crab, soft shell crab, avocado, cucumber. Good, but each piece was very large and fell apart easily before you had a chance to eat. - Assorted nigiri (2 pieces per order, price varies): We got salmon, scallop, salmon belly, arctic char, and hamachi. These were decently fresh with a good amount of sushi rice. Parking: Plenty of options, restaurant is in a plaza Overall, I would come back due to the convenient location and decent prices, but there are better spots in the peninsula for sushi.

We ordered everything online, everything went smooth until we got to the restaurant to pick up the food. There was a paper sign saying closed for emergency. I get that emergencies happen but why accept the online order; why not make sure the online ordering system states your closed today? Also there were three people inside two working clearly preparing food, well I thought maybe it was my order so maybe they're closed for dining inside but takeout is fine. Nope. I tried to talk with someone which was impossible, he wouldn't open the door so had to talk through a door with each of us masked. That ended poorly with me going away hungry wondering if we could get our money back for food we paid for but never got....

I really wanted to like this place but the price just doesn't justify the proportions. How can you charge $8 for 3 tiny tiny pieces of tofu and then call it Agedashi Tofu? For a party of 2, we ordered Tempura Udon, Lion King Roll, Caterpillar Roll, an Agedashi Tofu, and we were both still hungry. Perhaps we should've tried their curry instead or others. The customer service was good, very humble Taiwanese folk that do earnest hard work.

***THIS IS A JAPANESE "STYLE" RESTAURANT RUN BY NON-JAPANESE THAT SERVES "JAPANESE-ISH" FOOD"*** We dined in at this place and the service quality was terrible. We ordered Garlic noodle( this is not a Japanese menu, btw. I've never seen it in Japan as a native Japanese lol), Tonkatsu, salmon and tsukemen. Tsukemen came 40 min after we finished everything else. Server never checks if you get the right food nor they arrive in a timely manner. When we asked what happened to our tsukemen, they said " we got a lot of takeout orders". Ok..but why garlic noodle came in time and tsukemen didn't?! No apologies for messing up the order. When tsukemen arrived, they forgot an egg that was supposed to come with it. ( We had to point it out to them) the egg arrived 5 min later. The egg was plain btw, not ajitama. As a disclaimer, when we seated, they talked to us in Chinese straight, so you might get a better service if you can speak Chinese. The quality of the food that we ordered was in between ok and meh from a native Japanese perspective. We didn't try their sushi which might be good. But as a native Japanese, I hope whoever get negative experience at this place understand this is a Japanese-looking restaurant run by non-Japanese!

Ok I love this place. Love eating in the restaurant but they are the only restaurant I ordered from when all restaurants were only doing carry out that never disappointed. Their carry out is excellent. My favorite is the the chiragusis bowl, the yuzu roll and the garlic ramen noodles that are amazing. The quality is amazing.
