We've been eating here long before the new ownership and had always been pleased with the previous owners hospitality, pricing, and quality of meals. Under the new ownership, the service is still very good, although much more casual. We feel that they attempted to retain taste consistency and quantity of food. But, food prices have increased significantly, percentage-wise, without regard for "inflation ". That's probably a function of recapturing your purchase investment .

Came here on a weeknight and thought the food was just okay. We ordered shrimp fried rice, pad Thai, and cashew chicken. I ordered a side of peanuts and hot chili oil. The shrimp fried rice tasted more like Chinese fried rice than the typical Thai fried rice flavors. The pad Thai was on the sweeter side. One of the specials of the day was the cashew chicken, which was really crunchy and has great flavors. It was the best dish of the orders and I appreciated the veggies with the chicken. I think I could have enjoyed the pad Thai and fried rice more but the dishes were fine. The service was also great and we were checked in on quite a bit. The restaurant is nice with a lot of tables. I like it but there could be a few other improvements to some of the main Thai dishes.

We made a random stop on our way to FAT and it was a wonderful surprise- pad sie ew were fat and tender. Nothing like a hot wok-seared rice noodle. Tofu was also well prepared, perfectly seasoned, not too oily. Pad Thai was also very good with tofu, lots of crushed nuts, just a little sweet. I will definitely be back!

Such a great dining Gem in Fresno. The service is excellent and the food is too. We've tried many dishes and have enjoyed them all. Dining in you are welcomed as dear friends, but if you need to take out, your food is always prepared correctly and deliciously.

The in-laws took me here two days ago for the first time for lunch. I'm familiar with other styles of Asian cuisine, but Gem opened me up to a world of new flavors. I've never tasted galangal infused into a dish before, and the flavors of that with ginger and lemon grass etc. was incredible. The service there was impeccable. Such very nice people. The ambiance was satisfactory for a small establishment, but my tipping goes to food quality and service, which was there in aces and spades. I took my youngest daughter back there the next day for a daddy/daughter date, and she loved it. We ordered the Tom Kha Prawns without the chili oil (to make it more palatable for my 14 year old), and they took that as a cue to dial back the heat on the other two dishes. I love the heat, but I really appreciate their attentiveness to her. I don't eat Thai often enough to be able to say it was exceptional (I do know our Pad Thai was mediocre), but as a whole their dishes were very tasty, Gem of Thailand is a gem of a restaurant, one that we will be frequenting every few months. The menu prices you find online are probably old, so don't be surprised that they are a little higher in house.
