I went to Spicy J’s for my sister’s birthday. The service was great, although the water never got refilled at all. The food portions were small and honestly pretty lackluster. I ordered the Shenzhen dan dan noodles, which were listed as having pork, but in reality it was just lightly sprinkled on top. The flavor was really creamy, which didn’t match well with the Shenzhen peppercorn mala spice. Most of the other dishes were also bland and underwhelming. Honestly, it tasted...
We were next door at Barrel House and ordered takeout which included Wonton soup. ALL of our 5 selections were HOT and ever so tasty. The soup stayed hot to the last drop. Beautiful fragrant food. You guys are the best. Thank you for your best every time we order!!
I was very happy with my experience at Spicy J’s. Our waitress Grace was very friendly and happy to our accommodate our requests: reduced spice levels for some dishes, and answering lots of questions. Our food was delicious especially the duck, eggplant, and salt and pepper eggplant. I highly recommend checking out Spicy J’s and make sure to ask for Grace to be your waitress you will be glad you did.
