Been wanting to try Mokkoji and I'm so glad I did today for lunch! My party of 3 came on a Sunday afternoon 30 mins after they opened, and we were seated right away. We each got a plate of meat instead of opting for a combo. We got beef toro, flat iron, and brisket and they were all soo good. Out of the three, the beef toro was our favorite. The marinade was delicious and they had two different sauces provided. If you get sukiyaki, which two out of three of us did, you get a raw egg to dip your meat in. It was our first time here, so we weren't sure if we're able to customize the vegetable plate. I would probably opt out of certain veggies next time as I don't want it to be wasted. For broth, we got spicy sukiyaki, sukiyaki, and spicy chicken broth. They were all good, but we overheard the party next to us order the crab one which we will be trying next time. Service was meh, nothing to really rave about. They do offer a number of appetizer that sounded really good, but we got the fried fish balls which was pretty delicious. It was pricey though, for $9, you only get 6 balls. Many reviews mention how they're pretty stingy with certain items like rice and udon which I do agree with. We ended up needing to order more udon. I also thought it was odd that most of their broth, you do need to pay extra for and the original is the only thing included in the meal... Other than that, meal was delicious and I would definitely be back!

If someone told me I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life, it would be Mokkoji. I have a dedicated album of just pics of the same meal I have there because it's that good. Deada my favorite hot pot spot- cost, portions, and quality are all top tier. The sesame sauce is the best I've ever had and I've been to a LOT of hot pot places. Consistency is so important and every time they never miss. Whenever I'm in OC, it's my go to meal & I love the bar seating so the steam doesn't get all over my face/clothes. I love Mokojji!!!!

I came late on a Saturday night and had a great experience, mainly due to the customer service. A girl name leilani? (Sorry if I butcher this) was very attentive and explained pretty much how everything worked. It was our first time. We got the Mokkoji cut SH 32 pieces to share for four people. And the toro belly (this was a little overzealous in fat). The sauce was dank. I also got hot drops in my soup broth. Thanks to the server she recommended spicy miso with garlic Would definitely come again. Great service and food

The hot pot was awesome! Not at all spicy- took the spicy pork broth-the selection they bring it s fresh and enough for one person to indulge! Very happy! I will be back soon!

Mokkoji is my go to hotpot place whenever I'm in an area that has one. This chain consistently provides good food and good service. I love how they present their meat and how flavorful the broth is. I've been here multiple times and the only dish I don't like is there shrimp appetizer

FOOD 10/10 - Spicy suki yaki broth with flat iron meat (10/10): SO GOOD. This is my go-to when I'm craving hot pot in Garden Grove. It's a sweet broth. If you perfer more of a savory broth, i would recommend the spicy pork broth (10/10) -Rice (1/10) this place stingy as hell with their rice. fills the bowl up half way. SERVICE 8/10 - They come and refill water and check up here and there. Nothing crazy. AMBIANCE 8/10 - Nothing crazy. Decor is whatever. It's clean.

Absolutely delicious!!! Best shabu I've ever had. Ask for marinated beef. And they're sauces are delicious. Love the one drop hot sauce as well.

Love this place! I come here often. The food taste like christmas morning. Meaning it's wonderful. We get the spicy chicken broth and of course the mokojis prime. Reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the service has dipped recently. I feel like I have to continue to raise my hand like i'm in 1st grade to ask for something. I look over and I see most of the servers are in the kitchen hanging out while i'm over here suffering from no water no refill in sauces and no napkins. I almost wiped my hands on the wall to be honest. Anyways, i'd still come back, next time I'd probably just walk in the kitchen myself to grab my things so no biggie

Our favorite Shabu shabu in the area. They have a lot of flavorful soup options. I like the pork flavor. The meat is fresh and the sauces are good.

The broth truly sets Mokkoji Shabu Shabu apart from many other hot pot spots. My go-to order is Spicy Pork broth with Toro Fat Belly Beef (14pcs) which leaves me satisfied each time! The Spicy Sukiyaki and Mokkoji Cut Beef are also great as well. The complementary dishes of veggies and sauces are a great addition to the meal! You can always request more greens which is free of charge. The hot drops are a favorite; I usually go for 7-10 drops, but starting small is wise - you can always add more later! The service has significantly improved and the environment is small but clean and spacious. Since it's not AYCE, it may seem pricier than other hot pot restaurants.

Top of my shabu list. It's in the broth and the marinated "mokkoji" cut. Get it marinated, get as much as you think you can eat because you'll want more. Service has always been great. And make sure if you like heat, as them to add 1 drop of chili oil to your broth. The spicy pork broth is so good. My only warning is the garlic shrimp which is messy is shell on. I wouldn't have ordered them if I knew it was shell on and messy.

SERVICE: 4/5 Our server was nice and helpful, just lacked attentiveness as I had to grab their attention multiple times even tho it wasn't packed. FOOD: 4/5 The meats we got were really good. Fr one of the higher quality meats I've had at a shabu place!! Our broths (sukiyaki + mushroom) were both good too. For 2 people, our bill came out to 100. Very pricey tbh and I'm a cheap person lol so I rather do AYCE for that much. It barely filled us up.

Commenting on the service- the last three times have been the same- quick to take your order and serve food, but the servers never check in at all. It's always hard to flag down a server.
