“Ever since I went to Belize in 2014 I've been trying to find the cuisine. Fryjacks for breakfast ?
Oxtail, beans & rice, plantains and potato salad(mayo) or cabbage slaw(vinegar).
Can't go wrong with the fried fish either.
The owners are always so friendly.
Thanks for a delicious meal every time. Can't miss spot when passing through LA.
Best Belizean food in SoCal.“

“Chef Bensford's food is delicious! I highly recommend The Island Kitchen. My wife and I have ordered for ourselves and I have catered with him for a short film project. Positive experiences both times. His food is authentic, intentional, and tasty. The oxtails! Oh my.“

“It is one of the best Belizian food spots in South Los Angeles. The portions are hefty, and you can feed three people on one serving. The Oxtails and stew beans and rice are to die for. ? we have had oxtails at a lot of places, and their flavor is the best. Small place, and they have dine in. It's a must try. I forgot to take pictures. Will update on my next visit.“

“This was our first time in Los Angeles from Canada. My husband is Jamaican and is always looking for Jamaican food. We stopped by this restaurant. I had the curry goat, my son had the oxtail and my husband had the curry chicken. We were so impressed with the taste of all our meals. The food was seasoned so well that we thought we were in Jamaica. The owner made us feel like we were visiting a friend. I highly suggest visiting this restaurant.“

“Nice, clean, and friendly Jamacia restaurant.
We felt as if we were home in Montego Bay again but without the 8-hour flight.
The jerk chicken meal, ox tail meal, and chicken soup were a delicious treat for our first time here.
Thank you so much!“

“Came into town to visit and stopped in at this hidden gem. The good and service was good and quick. My crew had the liver, oxtails and split peas, stew chicken and breakfast with fry jacks. The fry jacks were my FAVORITE. They were big and fluffy. All plates came with large portion size. I couldn’t even finish all of my food. We ended by trying the rice pudding which was delicious. This will definitely be my go to for Belizean food whenever I am in town“

“Let me start with its a very long line & wait.
The food is absolutely delicious and the portions are very generous. Customer service is fantastic. But geez the long line up…we arrived at 1:25 they open at 1:30pm & there was a long line, I mean long but they did provide ice cold water which was refreshing & needed when standing in the sun for any length of time.
By the time we got into the restaurant, order, pay & actually get our food it was 3:50pm. They have seating available once you get inside and wait another 30-45 min for your order so you can relax.
Yes people thats how long the wait is. 2.5hrs to wait for food don't get me wrong like I said the food was great but just cant see myself waiting in line again for that length of time hence the 3 stars for atmosphere. I was told the line up is the norm.“

“She is always a nice person . Food is decent but portions are a little small as far as meat is concerned . Being from the east coast we have plenty of island cuisine . And it feels good to get some in Inglewood. All she has to do is offer a bigger selection of food . Normally it's just one Jamaican dish to choose from and bean pies and the normal soups and American food . All are great. Just wish she had a bigger variety“
“Excellent Tamales. We ordered 9 dz, including the Snow Crab and Nica special orders. Everyone was enthused with the flavors. The beans, rice and 2 salsas complimented well. All of my previous take out orders were equally delicious. Many of our guests are tamale fans. TAMARA WAS OUTSTANDING...“

“I just ate here for my birthday on Saturday. I have been to Belize and this food took me right back there. The owner Leslie, is from Belize and is very friendly and attentive, as his the staff. Phenomenal food, and large portions. Get the sampler platter for your appetizer, you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend this restaurant. If you are ever in Gardena, you should stop here. Gardena Cinema is a few blocks away, and is also fantastic. The restaurant closes at 7pm, and most shows start at 7:30, so it makes for the perfect evening.“
