Fukagawa is a comforting Japanese restaurant with a vast menu offering a range of dishes. The restaurant serves traditional Japanese breakfast, although it is only available for lunch or dinner. The food is consistently good, with dishes such as the special fish combo featuring salmon and cold soba, and the fried oyster and tempura set, which are both fried to perfection. Sides, including rice, salad, and miso soup, are also well-executed. While prices may not be great, the quality of the food justifies the cost. The service is generally pleasant, although there is room for improvement. Overall, Fukagawa is a reliable choice for a satisfying Japanese meal. This old school place for a Japanese set meal or soba is at a corner of the plaza that lets them have some covered outdoor dining as well, which compliments the well-kept, homey interior. The menu is extensive, lots of sets, the soba is solid, and the beef is actually pretty decent quality. They won't dazzle with flash or impress high rollers, but Fukagawa is a local classic for a reason. Some customers enjoyed the atmosphere and the chicken katsu combo, stating it was always great. Another customer said the tempura soba tasted just like a restaurant in Tokyo. However, one customer found the salmon very salty and the okonomiyaki seemed packaged frozen. They advised management and chef to focus on quality and freshness.
