The omakase menu at night is also rich in content. All of the toppings are soft and flavorful. Plenty of odorless sea urchin. The tuna seems to have matured. The red vinegar and rice are just right, not too big.The chawanmushi is served piping hot with ginkgo nuts. The miso soup was delicious, with a good dashi coming out from the shrimp heads.I'm very satisfied with this price.

For a long time, this place was by far the best old style sushi bar restaurant in the South Bay. Still is, but the portions are noticeably smaller. Maybe this is how they manage rising food costs.

Super authentic. Small menu where everything is excellent. The sushi is always fresh and perfectly prepared. I always look forward to the shrimp head in the miso soup and steamed egg.

A very authentically Japanese sushi restaurant (not a spicy Mayo and crazy roll-type establishment, to set your expectations).Warm service, sit and the bar if you like that chef attention. Many folks were chatting and sharing drinks with the chef -- it was a nice environment. Also very reasonably priced for the quality, which is increasingly rare these days. I got the omakase and my bf got the 2 layer chirashi. Both delicious, tho personally I would get the regular chirashi next time. Can't wait to come back!

Ambiance: classic Japanese sushi restaurant, the establishment is divided into two sessions, the first room is for tables, kitchen and sushi bar, and the room next to it is for private dining cubicles and tables as well Service: very friendly and patient with questions, though it's slow to place the order and get the bill, it's understaffed during rush hours Food: simple menu items and very fresh ingredients, uni, sweet shrimp and toro are very tasty Omakase Nigiri - **** 14pc Sushi, recommend Special Chirashi - ***** 2 Layer Chirashi, highly recommend Steamed Egg - **** Chawan Mushi, super soft, with mushroom, cilantro, ginkgo and shrimp inside, recommend Miso Soup - **** with shrimp head inside, recommend Red Bean Ice Cream - *** average Price: it's worth the premium quality and expect $60+ per person

I was searching for an omakase restaurant near my school and came across Kanpachi. For their omakase you get 14 pieces of nigiri, chawan mushi, miso soup with shrimp head, and a scoop of either red bean or black sesame ice cream for $49. That's definitely an awesome deal for great sushi! My top favorites would have to be the negitoro and uni. It was very fresh and tasted soooo yummy! I usually don't get full after an omakase but I was so full after eating at Kanpachi. A good bang for your buck here. The restaurant is small and I recommend making a reservation if you want to get a seat at the sushi bar because it gets quite busy. I love the decor! It was a traditional Japanese style design which gave a cozy and warm atmosphere.

I always go here after my dentist appointment. The fish is super fresh and the chirashi is very delicious. It's a small Japanese restaurant but service is relatively quick.

Looking for a sushi spot in Gardena, we noticed this resteraunt located in a strip mall off of Western. There was a slight wait around 7pm on a Friday. Once our name was called, we were seated in the main dining room across from the sushi bar and the vibe was loud and lively. There were additional booths in the adjacent room, which appeared to be a bit more private. Our server approached us immediately and took our drink order. We ordered the calamari to start and it tasted fresh and perfectly fried. The calamari was placed on top of dressed salad and it paired perfectly. A lemon and sauce was also given on the side. We ordered rolls off of the paper menu and tried the Rainbow Roll, Catapillar Roll and the the Spider Roll. All pretty good and fresh. Maybe lacking a bit in flavor for me. I have to add that the ginger on the side was the freshest we've had. Service was fast and friendly. I'll be back to try a bit more of the menu.

I am a little disappointed with the omakase after reading a few good reviews. It is true $45 is cheap, and maybe I shouldn't have expected the fish would be too special in this price range. If you have tried omakase at $100 range, their omakase will be a little basic. The plum wine and house sake were also just okay. Nothing quite impressive with the rolls and grilled item we tried. We also tried to reserve a private room, but I was told it was fully booked. But when I was there I didn't see any rooms being in used.

Expensive, but you get what you pay for, this is real authentic sushi and high quality at that. Delicious fresh sushi, best around imo.

Punching way above its weight. Your typical, little LA oddity in that it is located in an unremarkable strip mall that is surrounded by a city of thousands of unremarkable strip malls. The Sushi is an unexpectedly great surprise and the staff are pleasant. The old chef who served us(we sat at the bar) was typically humble and clearly proud of his artistry. Really good little find. One of the many such places spread out randomly that make life in a giant, strange place like LA so damn good to those who are willing to seek adventures in the seemingly mundane.

We were driving around trying to find a place for dinner. Drove by here and decided to try it out. There’s a small parking lot for the shopping center. The restaurant sushi bar was busy but a table was available immediately. It was good service and server courteous. There’s push button service there but the server was attentive and we didn’t use it.
