It's a place that had a great reputation as a tasty spot, and I used to think of it fondly after trying it and enjoying it. However, I had a really bad experience recently, so I'm leaving a review. It was my friend's birthday, so I placed an order for a cake a few days in advance and arranged a pickup time. Unfortunately, it happened to be a day when the kids didn't have school, so I planned to take them out for a bit to keep them entertained and ended up delaying the pickup time. The freeway we took to get to the pickup spot was unusually congested that day, so we ended up being about 30 minutes late. I assumed it wouldn't be a problem as long as we arrived before closing time. But then, out of the blue, I received a call from the store, and the person on the other end spoke rudely, complaining about how many times I had changed the pickup time. I apologized and arrived at the store to pay and pick up the cake, but the cashier had a very unpleasant expression and was extremely rude, barely responding to my questions. I usually don't confront people, but I felt like saying something this time. I left feeling like he was blaming me for making them stay late. It was a place I used to like, but I won't be going back. It felt like he was taking out their frustration on me for not being able to leave work early.

Although I didn't directly purchase cakes from the bakery, my friend brought some slices over to a party, and I FELL IN LOVE.Dude, that chestnut cake is out of this world...seriously. it's the perfect amount of sweetness, nuttiness, and balance of soft and bouncy texture. I also had a taro slice which was also just so yummy. The cream that they use is light and not greasy tasting at all. I can't wait to go back so I can purchase an entire cake for my asian parents who would totally love this cake.

I love this little Japanese bakery! I feel so lucky to live close by. I've purchased a couple of cakes here for different occasions and their fresh cakes are the perfect description of "not too sweet"!I've always called in advance to order, but they have smaller cakes available that you can just walk-in for. Also, the staff is so wonderful- she helped me carry a big cake to my car, and was extra concerned for it to not move around or get messed up!Easy, no-fuss parking in a lot right in front of the bakery. I'm always in and out in less than 5 minutes- always much appreciated when I'm running around getting things done before a party!Highly, highly recommend.

In the picture is an 8" strawberry shortcake, 5"chocolate cake, slice of Soft souffle cheese cake, Chestnut Mont Blanc individual cake, and a Trader Joe's Dutch apple pie for size comparison.I tried multiple cakes from this place and overall, the strawberry shortcake and Soft souffle cheese cake were the best! The cheesecake tasted more like a cheese flavored cake than an actual cheese cake, which I prefer. It's much lighter and fluffier than a normal cheese cake. The strawberry shortcake had whipped cream instead of frosting over it, making it taste much better. The chestnut cake was great too. I wasn't a huge fan of the chocolate cake, it was more like whipped cream with a hint of chocolate.Vegetarian options: The cakes all have dairy and maybe egg but no meat.Wheelchair accessibility: 1st floor location

Nagomi Cake House is a Japanese cake shop in Torrance that I'd had on my to-try list for some time. I was pleasantly surprised when some guests brought it over to our house for dessert recently. Our friends brought over the coffee cream cake, strawberry cream roll, and chestnut cake. I liked that all the cakes weren't overly sweet. The cakes were very creamy and decadent. I could only eat a little bit before getting sick of the cream. All in all, I liked the cakes here and would try this place again.

Quaint little bakery in the back of a small plaza . Not a big selection of desserts but enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. Got a 5" strawberry shortcake for mom's birthday. Not too sweet, fluffy but could use less cream imo. They sell individual slices flavors matcha, tiramisu, chocolate mouse, strawberry, creme puffs too. Support local shops. Will be back next time in the area.

Nagomi is an absolute gem of a small bakery. The single most important item here is the cream puff. I can't speak to the other pastries and cake, but the cream puff is straight fire. The cream puff is not cheap by a stretch of the imagination, but it sure is worth it. The custard is light and slightly sweet, but the winner is the outside shell. The shell is airy and adds a perfect layer of sweetness.

Amazing strawberry roll cake; so light and delicately sweetened.

Cakes always taste fresh with high quality ingredients. There's something very cozy and homemade about their cakes that it really unique. Perfect level of sweetness too. I keep coming back and their strawberry shortcake never misses. I just wish they had seating and some beverage offerings.

If you love light, creamy, not-too-sweet cakes like I do, please try this place! We ordered slices of the hojicha cream cake, coffee cream cake, matcha cream cake, cream roll cake, and a cream puff. We couldn't decide on a favorite one because they were all so good. Each stood out in their own way, and were rich but nicely balanced. Coffee cream cake - we loved the crunchy choco balls at the bottom. Coffee flavor was strong but definitely not overpoweringMatcha cream cake - balanced with a layer of red bean cream. Matcha was rich and not too bitterHojicha cream cake - rich hojicha flavor, slightly roasty. Also balanced with a layer of red bean cream. Unique flavor that this bakery nailed!Cream roll cake - the cream was so light yet rich in milky flavor. Cake was fluffy with a bit of vanilla. The shop looks more like a grab & go spot (didn't see any seating).Shop owner was nice & fit everything perfectly in a tall box so nothing was damaged on the way home :) we arrived 30 mins before closing and they still had a good amount of options available. We'll be back to try all the other cakes for sure!

Having worked in a mom and pop Asian bakery I'm pickier than most for this category. Now that I've been there a few times and tried a variety of things, I am confident in my assessment.I feel for Asian baked goods they are a little too sweet, so maybe it's tailored toward more American tastes? The coffee jelly was way too sweet compared to the Nijiya or Famima coffee jelly. The shortcake was on the dry side and really needed all the cream to provide moistness. The roll cake was moist but it was about as good as 99 Ranch roll cake or triangle cake. Passionfruit cheesecake wasn't bad but not passionfruit-y enough. The baked cheesecake was the best thing I tried but it was on the sweet side too.Staff is polite. Store is cramped, layout with pylons indoors is uninviting. Hours are inconvenient. Yamazaki in DTLA has better pastries and the shop looks prettier, but you have to deal with DTLA traffic, parking, and crowds.
