Sanuki no Sato changed ownership and changed name to similar "Tanuki no Sato". Same location. I was told same chef. Just ate there, ordered nabeyaki udon, considered good test of flavor and quality. I was born and raised in Tokyo so I know good Japn food. Nabeyaki udon($13.50) passed my test, it was as delicious as b4. I will continue eating here whenever I visit LA from Boulder.

Hello! Sanuki no Sato is now Taniki no Sato as of 9/23/2019. The food at this new place is AMAZING! Delicious and flavorful. I had a lunch special tempura with a small iron soup. This was perfect, flavor in each dish was perfect. The texture of the tempura was spot, with the udon soup excellent. Perhaps the best part was the experience. Not unlike Yelp readers, I've been to many restaurants. However, the greeting at the door was joyful and it did not let up throughout the meal. The new owner was cordial, charismatic, and fun. The waitresses were super attentive and sweet. They were a joy, with Mia among others making sure you were attended to and felt like home. I would encourage people to check out this place with new ownership. The food and people made for a wonderful experience. Quite the gem in a highly competitive landscape.

All udon here is "sanuki udon" which is an udon from a specific area of japan. Sanuki udon is more firm, yet chewy at the same time. nabeyaki udon - sanuki udon with sansai, chicken, delicious bamboo, shrimp tempura, onsen egg, naruto. delicious broth. wafu ramen - delicious fish shoyu broth, bamboo, seaweed, chashu. braised pork belly (kakuni) in gravy broth - very interesting broth. tastes exactly like their normal broth, but thick. curry - broth isnt as thick as the gravy broth. not as fond of it here as I am for other places cheese and mochi in hot pot - SO DENSE. lots of toppings and flavor. get ready to give your mouth a workout and chew chew chew!

I am glad I was there because they post a note which said they would close the business in July 27. Therefore this would be my first and last time. Decent noodle soup.

First time there and sadly it would be the last time since the business will close on July 27. I would be glad to have tried this place. Food was decent.

My family has been going here for a while now and have seen it go through an ownership change. Although it's different than how it started out, I still really appreciate the variety of noodles which they offer. Although I usually order ikura oroshi soba (soba with salmon egg and grated daikon) or uni tororo soba (cold soba with uni and mountain yam), I recently tried the hot intestines udon. It came hot, and the soup itself was full of flavor from the intestines and the mentaiko (spicy cod roe). The whole dish merged a variety of flavors that paired wonderfully with the udon. If you're in the area, definitely give Sanuki no Sato a try because it's a lot of fun. If you have a big group, they will give you a tatami room with a hole in the middle for westerners, so it's both fun and comfortable.

Had dinner here on a Saturday night and was very satisfied with the meal. We came right when it opened and was able to score a table. Too bad the special rooms were booked for the night. Food came out hot and tasty. Everything we ordered was very authentic and yummy. Price point was also very reasonable. The waiters came back frequently to refill our teacups. Would defiantly recommend.

Get the uni roe bowl combination or the nabeyaki udon! Great service with quality food.

We came here for the first time yesterday, despite all the negative reviews, and were pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and service was quick. We ordered the nabeyaki udon, uni / salmon roe bowl and grilled whole squid. Although the portions were smaller than expected for the price compared to other restaurants, the quality was good. The uni and salmon roe, although a bit sparse, was one of the freshest qualities we've had. The grilled squid was perfectly cooked, with the sweet hint of fresh seafood and smokey charcoal flavors. The nabeyaki udon was ok... the soup was too sweet for our taste but the contents were good. Additionally, we enjoyed the decor...they had plenty of private rooms for parties. Given the price and quality, I'd return for special occasions.

I found this place on Yelp as we were exploring Torrance. Initially, the pictures on Yelp drew me the place. When I got there, I was deterred immediately by the menu. There were SO MANY items on the menu-- to the point where you wonder, what is this place known for? Sometimes, places end up serving such a variety that none of the dishes end up tasting good. I honestly had no idea what to eat. The pictures on Yelp didn't quite match the menu items. I'm guessing they changed some of it before. After looking through the menu for over 5 minutes, looking at Yelp, and telling the waiter we needed more time, we finally decided to just ask the waiter what people eat here. The waiter was very nice and went over what they were known for. We ended up ordering the udon. My date got the beef udon and I ordered the nebeyaki udon. The difference between the beef and nebeyaki is that mine came in a different bowl and was almost simmering (the server called it a sizzling bowl). There were mushrooms, imitation crab cake, tempera, veggies that I never had before, an egg. Overall, let me just say that my tummy was satisfied. I couldn't finish my bowl, but it was delish! The soup was boiling hot for the longest time. It was nice. If you come here, definitely try the nebeyaki udon!!! I would recommend!
