Great place for shabu shabu. The meat seems to have gotten thinner but it's all you can eat so it's not a problem. All of the sides are solid and the staff is always helpful.
Glad this place takes reservations! For a large group, best size is 8 to fit a full table or a party of 4 for a half table. The broths were super flavorful and had a straightforward selection of meats and seafood balls. Great for people who are new to hot pot since it’s not a complicated or overwhelming menu. Shin Sen Gumi is normally known for ramen and yakitori at other locations so this is the only shabu shabu in the LA area. Tokyo Central (a large Japanese grocery store)...
I have been a loyal patron to Shin Sen Gumi for over 15 years. I never had a problem with the changing and increased prices until last night. The quality of meat is not what it used to be even with adding the premium Wagyu option. Service was excellent though and ambience made it a fun meal outing with the girls. I will go back but with the hopes that the meat quality has improved. Especially with the prices being charged.
