Lindsey and Ryan are such sweet individuals! Wine Snob has been a partner of my company for a few years and I am always joyed when communicating with these two. My husband and I recently purchased their champagne for our wedding and they were genuinely interested in our day and happy to be providing some bubbly for our toasts! Their wine is delicious and unique, including the labels on the bottle. I would call Wine Snob a “mom and pop” winery with the elegance of one of the larger vineyards. They are a must taste when visiting Glen Ellen!

Everything I want in a winery.

Lindsey and Ryan are very much on the same wavelength as my wife and I. Their wine, as Lindsey put it, frequently "lets the grapes do the talking." It's clear they both have a passion for wine, but they aren't prescriptive as to what you should expect when you taste the wine. I've seen my share of snobby wineries, and I love the cheekiness Lindsey and Ryan chose for their brand, as this is anything but snobby. I'm anything but a wine connoisseur (if someone tells me what flavors to expect in a wine, I end up thinking I taste those flavors) but the experience here left me wanting to come back.

Don't miss their port with the chocolate truffle during your tasting, it's really wonderful. This is the first winery that my wife and I have actually become members of, and we're looking forward to stopping by more often to catch up with Lindsey and Ryan. Thank you!

We had a wonderful afternoon at wine snob*! Lindsey was amazing during our wine tasting today. She explained all the wines in perfect detail and was super pleasant and knowledgeable. You can really tell that she and her husband are passionate about their wines they make and you can taste that in the wines! This was one of our last wine tasting stops on our trip and we found some of our favorite wines! We even signed up for the wine club because we were so impressed. I can wait to keep tasting more from them. You should absolutely stop in, you won’t be disappointed!

I fell in love with wine while I was falling for the love of my life. I enjoyed before it as anyone else might, but when I discovered the breadth of art that winemakers in Sonoma accomplish, I was hooked. In the years since we have enjoyed maybe two or three dozen wineries and winemakers across Sonoma, almost a dozen in Lake County, and a few in Napa. While we both enjoy a diverse spectrum of red wines, we also appreciate lesser known and well-made white wines.

Wine Snob as a nome de guerre is entirely tongue in cheek. No one is turned away or made to feel a lesser here. They are a wife and husband enjoying a second life as wine makers, and I hope I live my first one as well as they seem to have done in their second. These are wines to experience before the rest of the world has a chance to. Sampling both available tastings, and beyond my appreciation of the wines, I was reassured that appreciating wine is something that is a worthwhile way to spend my time in this life I have.

2022 Kuhlbird is a dry Gewurtz in a Champenois style with no dosage (I thought the dosage was part of Champenois…but alas). It is an incredible sparkline wine, especially if you are familiar with the exceptionally well made but still typical sparkling wines that are typically made with pinot noir or chardonnay. It is a dual treasure in being both an exceptional Gewurtz and an exceptional sparkling. This might be a spark of a new wave, or an exceptional part of a wave I am not aware of.

2023 Sauvignon Blanc…it’s hard to say. I could be easy and say I’ve had exceptional sauv blanc at almost twice the cost, but that’s not enough. It has those classic notes, but it has a depth that I’ve only other seen in purposeful, knowing executions with real work to put them into bottle that claim to demand that cost. This is the best dollar for dollar best sauv blanc in Sonoma County, and I’d put money behind that.

2023 Rhose is just exceptional. I do not like sweet wine, and this is a wine to get sweet wine drinkers to expand their palate. The fruit is there, but the sugar and the notes are never too much. This is the perfect middle ground. Just wonderful.

2020 Pinot Noir is a genuine and excellent expression of pinot noir. Pinot Noir (to me) is perhaps the varietal that can go in so many different expressions, I’ve had dozens that are unique in their own way. This is an expression that pinor and non-pinot drinkers should try.

2019 Puma-5 is exactly what a red blend should be. I do not like bold, gold standard cabernet sauvignon. It’s fine, and I won’t yuck someone else’s yum, but to me there is so many better reds to put your money into than a flagship Napa Cab. This wine takes cab and merges it with merlot and pertit verdot, along with a dash of cab franc and malbec, to make a red wine that you really just should try. It’s scary good. I haven’t been more impressed in awhile, from something really special in Lake County I will greedily not share here.

2019 (T)rebelrouser is a wine that changes and is delicious at all stages. A fun time would be to have a taste when the bottle is freshly opened, and then decant it and try it every 10-20 minutes thereafter. I’ve never had a wine that changes (subtlely) as much as this.

Night Owl: A ruby port for the ages. This is what you give to people to show them why port is good. Night Owl and chocolate is adjacent to other forms of intoxication.

I cannot find the name, but their counoise is stunning, and it is so good to have another rare varietal be made into something like this. It may not replace cab franc for me (maybe just because of the sentimentality) , but it is alone worth the visit. Just an incredible wine.

TLDR: Every single person who enjoys wine and can come here should, no exceptions. Wine cannot fall while people like them make it.

Don’t miss this excellent stop in cute downtown Glen Ellen. Taste delicious red and white varietals, bubbly, and port. Something for everybody! Such a fun experience—it’s a welcoming, comfortable tasting room with a great vibe, including the background music and displayed local artwork and jewelry. The prices for their wines are incredibly reasonable and with a hard-to-find tasting fee of only $15-$20, you really have to check it out. Husband and wife owners, Ryan and Lindsey, personally welcome and serve and they’re very knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly committed to the quality of their wine.

Great wine, great tasting!

Wonderful! and, quite surprising really. Our experience at Wine Snob was the complete opposite of what the name implies. (in the best way possible). It felt like I was invited into a whispered tale of the surrounding valleys. The thoughtfulness and care that goes into each bottle is remarkable. Ryans tale of his wife and his adventures finding their dream, their grapes (with their own character and charm) was amazing. I’m extremely happy we stopped in. I’m lucky they chose this as their future. It brought those flavors to an end note on my palate.

Ryan provided an awesome experience. It was our first time in the area and are relatively new to wine and we had a great time visiting & enjoying their offerings. He was also able to give us great recommendations for the area. All at a extremely reasonable cost. Will definitely visit again when we are back.

Great wine, lots of variety, very reasonably priced, and nice people to boot. Sort of randomly chose this among various wine tasting options in Glen Ellen, and felt we had hit the jackpot.

We were here last Saturday for live music (and of course some yummy wine). It was a perfect evening event for my wife and I. I loved the clean modern atmosphere in the quaint setting of Glen Ellen. The owners were both there, working their butts off but still kindly introduced themselves without missing a beat. True to their word, it seems they have worked passionately to find and create delicious yet reasonably priced wine (Do NOT forget the Night Owl port before you leave). They had teamed up with a local food truck with great food as well (can’t remember the name, but good banh mi sandwich!!). All in all this is a tasting room we won’t miss on our annual California trip.

Michael Martin

A very nice experience tasting with stories from the very friendly owner and winemaker.
