I want to start by saying that I respect Crushcakes as a business and I love their food. Today though, I went in with my significant other on our lunch break and I got the KC’s Sunnyside. He got the pesto panini sandwich. My issue lies in the fact that by the time that I got back to my job to enjoy my food (10 minutes later) my potatoes were very obviously undercooked and grainy. We left the restaurant around 1:05 after waiting 20 minutes for to-go food, which I understand is normal everywhere. When my significant other went in to get a remake because I had to get back to work, they said that they couldn’t remake it because it was “an hour ago.” There was offering from my partner to show that the food was barely touched and still no effort was made to fix the issue aside from offering a side of potatoes to my already cold food. I figure calling ahead would help but it did not at all. I’m now upset because it’s 45 minutes after I wanted to eat, my vegetables are cold so the quality of my meal is tampered, and I felt absolutely disregarded as a customer. If you’ve never had a KC’s, the potatoes are the base of the meal with arugula, kale, goat cheese and egg on top. Vegetables and egg don’t microwave well and I’m more upset with the fact that $32 dollars total were spent just to get met with what seems to be a half-attempted “solution.” It’s now 2:20 and the rest of my food is cold.

Update at 2:32- I got to open my new potato side and they are also still very undercooked in the middle ☹️

I love crushcakes and come every week for lunch. The cafe food is delicious, and somehow tastes even better than you expect. Always get a freshly baked cupcake or baked good. Service is friendly, and they do a great job at retaining workers so you get to know the staff. One star taken off because the place needs a major remodel.

What a lovely surprise in Goleta. Wish I'd bought some merch. Good was excellent and fresh. My tortilla chips weren't made there but they served the salty ones, so they don't lose points. Service was great. My Mom had the turkey burger and salad. She likes her coffee hot, so when asked they heated it up for her immediately. Young servers were chatty with each other, but prompt in service. I got the brekkie tacos. No extra charge for guac. It was just there! Win. I had the chai matcha hot. Yum.

Ivan. The Man. I called to order cupcakes for my daughter's 21st birthday for delivery. He totally got it, walked me through the best way to order online and then specially, on his own volition, chose a great mix of cupcakes, decorated the box and wrote a note to my daughter. In other words, he delivered in the most amazing way. And, he added a bonus cookie. LOVE. Shout out to Ivan's sterling customer service. The cupcakes look scrumptious. I'll be back and I'll surely be recommending Crushcakes. Well done.

Crushcakes is usually pretty good with customer service, but today (10/3) around 3:20pm it was lacking. Delicious cupcakes though. Thanks.

Crushcakes is consistently delicious! My husband and I regularly order takeout during the week for breakfast or lunch and keep going back. Online ordering is a breeze and they always get the order right. Coffee is great and of course the cupcakes! The pumpkin spice is my current favorite. Highly recommend this cafe all around!

Vegetarian options: Plenty of great veggie options. I love the lucky goat burrito and tree hugger sandwich the most.

Really cool place, does breakfast all day. They have 50% day old pastries. A little slice of paradise in a renovated older property.

I just received my grubhub order from Crushcakes and they had run out of an item and took the time to call me and offer alternates. I took the pumpkin cake and am so glad I did. It is amazing! Thank you for such great service and wonderful food.

Got the Rolex wrap this morning, I’ve never written a review for any place in my life. This thing was so fresh and tasty that I decided to come on here and show some love! It was totally worth the price as they threw in a side of wonderful fruit as well. Super tasty and I’d recommend to anyone! Service was great also. In a town that’s lost its way when it comes to pricing and portions, crush cakes got it right. Thanks!

I hate to leave a 1 star review, but here we go.

Before I continue this review, I have to give them credit for backing their staff. After working in multiple industries where clients are involved with great feedback as well as complaints, they truly will back their staff and see what went wrong instead of taking my word and reprimanding them. My situation on how things were handled and the quality of a product I got was not up to par for what I know these guys can do. I’ve been into CrushCakes Goleta before and ordered food and cupcakes and EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING, but that doesn’t change the recent experience.

I recently got married and ordered a DAIRY FREE (not vegan. Not GF. And for clarification DF needs to be lactose free and can have eggs where vegan cake cannot) 2 tiered cake. We took the cake out 1 hr prior before cutting and serving per guidance of the staff. As soon as my husband and I went to go cut into the cake, it was hard as a brick and already starting to fall apart. The cake was inedible, and everyone probably took 1-2 bites before putting it down and not continuing to eat. We didn’t even cut into the bottom tier and it was thrown away. I couldn’t even save a piece to save for our 1 year anniversary. There is $500+ down the toilet.

We reached out to Goleta store prior to posting this review in hopes to resolve this situation, but not really. No apology. They kept reiterating that they were a small business and that this is never happened before. They were going to meet with baking staff earlier this week, I requested the outcome, and no response. I understand that they are a small business and for a fact that I personally have worked for small businesses before and that stuff happens. They have reviews with similar stories to mine where cakes or cupcakes were dry and/or inedible. We wanted to make them aware of the situation so this doesn’t happen again to anyone in the future. We did not receive exactly what I ordered and only received a $100 refund. I asked for ingredient list which was sent over and following in the email was “For Clarity this is what we follow when someone mentions they are Vegan / No Dairy.” So they make the same cake regardless if you’re vegan or DF. Technically since the cake was vegan, there was no dairy in it at all, BUT since I stated while ordering DF, we were expecting to have eggs in the ingredient list, which there wasn’t. Being DF and vegan are similar but totally different. Just because someone is dairy free, does not mean they are vegan and gluten free, and same goes for across the board. We weren’t told by time of placing the order that the cake would be made vegan and GF.

In my personal opinion, they should be able to adjust their recipes accordingly to what people as for. I’ve stated multiple times on how upsetting it was for the outcome of said cake.

Hot take: I should’ve been refunded MINIMUM 50% of what the cake cost, not $100. I did not receive the cake I asked for. I understand food costs and cost of labor, but come on. Do better to make this right. I want to keep supporting, but after all of this, I won’t be returning.

Photos taken are from an iPhone and from a distance, but figure they capture what I’m talking about.

Wonderful little independent cafe' not far from the airport and a short walk from the new Marriott. Chilaquiles signature breakfast (almost like breakfast nachos) was delicious, service was fast, prices were good. And the cupcake I grabbed for the walk back was perfect.
