Forced to leave a star, 90 minutes of our day wasted on waiting for food. Sadly, all the bad reviews left are justified( long waits, in-attentive wait staff). We finally got tired so I paid for the 2 sodas we did get(15 minutes after we sat) and left, Charlie's is a place that we will not go again!

Charlie's has been a family favorite for more than 20 years! The food is delicious and they are always creating specials that make you want them to be on the regular menu. My absolute favorite currently is the chilaquiles. The homemade tomatillo sauce and chips are to die for! You will be glad you visited Charlie's on your next trip to Grass Valley.

It's a homage to the old-time mining western dudes. Loads of guns, cowboy whatnots and cute little signs with cute little sayings on them about the old west... Pew pew pew (finger guns)
But the menu is great and very much more than a greasy spoon. The dishes are well thought out and well executed and tastes combos are fantastic. Portions are good size and chicken and waffles rule.

Parking: Street parking is tough. It's right downtown in Grass Valley. But there is a big free lot across the street.

Kid-friendliness: Yes it is but not really portions for a child.

Wheelchair accessibility: Double door entry ... you'll need someone to hold one door while you go through the second door.

Been here on quite a few occasions and, I have to say, this restaurant has always struck me as the inferior to most brunch options in GV/NC. The wait staff has always seemed overly busy with no real attentiveness to the tables they wait, not to mention generally feeling like they're doing the bare minimum service-wise as well as a general negative demeanor (head-waitress with the tattoos i think has some enmity towards her job). The food is sort of lackluster, particularly for the price of some menu items -- i think i had a good Burger there once). Sometimes, since the restaurant is quite small, you'll have long wait times. The interior is charming, love the murals on the wall. Overall, I would recommend skipping here and checking out Humpty's or South Pine instead for a nicer experience and better food.

One of the best Breakfasts in town!! When they are actually open which is randomly when they feel like it.We also Can't tell if the head server hates us or just hates everyone. We are both life long servers and her destain for customers is so blatantly painful it's cringy and yet we in a weird way look forward to it.
