Food was really tasty and good quality. A bit on the small serving sizes such as the seaweed salad and the tempura but so good and tasty. Service was good - friendly staff. Yes would recommend if wanting sushi and Japanese food if in the grass Valley area.

I will never come back to this place. I have been here twice and the food is okay but this is the second time it took 50 minutes to receive our order and we only ordered three rolls. Also the restaurant was half empty. I have had other friends with the same experience. This is the slowest place I've ever been to. Restaurant experience is not just about the food it's about the service and the atmosphere that makes a complete package . The worst part is I asked for ponzu sauce for my wife and I which I do it every restaurant. They charged me $7 for ponzu sauce! I've been to at least 100 sushi restaurants and I've never been charged. The waitress could have at least told us that there was a charge and I would have just had soy sauce for free. Food is getting more and more expensive and they're going to nail me with a dollar charge for literally a teaspoon of sauce. Terrible

We've been eating at Kaido's in Grass Valley CA for about 10 years and enjoy it very much. The waitress(s) are fun and provide some of the best service. Kos & Kaoru are the most humble and caring owners you will ever meet. We went on a 7500 mile vacation this year up North into Alaska and decided to eat Sushi out as often as possible, some of the cities were Sun Valley ID, Missoula MT, Whitehorse Yukon (twice), and Prince George BC. The flavor of the different dishes are sometimes hard to compare, but we found Kadio's Sushi Rolls and Tempura to be the best. The Miso soup was fairly easy to compare and our favorite is still at Kaidos. If you like Japanese food, then give Kaidos a try your next time out. Vic & Joy

Everything was great. I thought the prices were reasonable and disagree with reviews which say otherwise. This is high quality food and there are plenty of lower priced items. Food was cooked just right and delicious. Our server, Mia, was very professional and on top of our serving needs. This is a small place, but tables not crowded even when full. Ambiance very pleasant and furnishings high quality. Will definitely return. Make a reservation.

Seriously wonderful restaurant, I generally come here once a month, I would go more often if I could afford it. Compared to other sushi restaurants in the area they have a much more traditional style, which is to say they are often very light on the sauce and toppings. I highly recommend the salmon belly sashimi, it's absolutely delectable.Parking: Depending on the time of day/day of the week it can be difficult to find parking, downtown Grass Valley kind of just has that problem.

Wonderful dinner. Enjoyed the hamachi don buri and agedashidofu. Relaxing. Lovely service.

I am going to go out on a limb and daresay Kaido has the best sushi and tempura around. Back during Covid, I had to pre order a day ahead. I have only gotten take out and their offerings never disappoint. I went to sushi training and I could never make anything near the level Kaido has; its flat out embarrassing. One of the trademarks of inspiration is when you eat something and then are completely and fanatically determined to replicate it so you can have that item whenever you want. Case in point: their tempura. If you are a hopeless, pathetic Sushiholic like me then come get your fix. Again, I am exhausted listening to complaints about pricing. If you can't afford a good haircut, don't go to the barber shop. 'Nuff said!

Went in on a Wednesday at 7:30 and half the tables were open, but they wouldn't accept a to go order. So, can't speak to the food, but not impressed with the business overall.

Went to Kaido for a spontaneous date night and it was amazing. Our server was very friendly. We ordered one appetizer, two rolls, and a bottle of sake. Everything came out timely and was delicious! We love this more traditional style Japanese sushi restaurant. Definitely recommend for out of town era, just know you need to make a reservation.

Service is super slow . . . the fish is very skimpy on the rolls and the fresh water eel was served cold. I will not be

A good restaurant in Grass Valley. Their menu is well balanced with raw and cooked, and they make a good effort at freshness and presentation. The atmosphere is nice and very Japanese. A good stop by if you are in Grass Valley.

The food was excellent, once we finally received it. We had reservations for 6 o'clock on Saturday evening. A party of five. It took ten minutes before we were served water. Then the waitress disappeared for another fifteen minutes before asking us for our drink orders. We were there for over two hours, because it took so long for our server to come back. We received our food in small increments, with about ten to fifteen minutes in between each arrival of our server. The food was great, once we finally had the opportunity to dine. The restrooms were clean. The service was friendly, but there was never an explanation as to why it was so slow. There were four other tables open at the time. One was a single person. Two tables only had two people. The other table had a party of four.
