This is a beautifully remodeled restaurant with a calm, aesthetic atmosphere. The food is fresh and flavorful. One of us ordered the lomein and we were shocked at how tiny the portion was. I would be seriously embarrassed to serve that amount of food to a customer and call it a main dish. Also, two of us ordered beers, and the pours were very small. For $7 you can get a full pint at most places in this county. These were maybe 10 ounces. The service was desultory. I wish Mantra the best of success but I can't recommend it unless you're a light eater. I won't be going back.

I would only come back for the tea. The food that I tried (poke and chicken bowl) is underwhelming and small portion.

This exquisite venue is clean, comfortable and has a beautiful atmosphere. Our group was able to be accommodated with vegan, gluten free options as well as the fish/meat dishes. We all loved the food so much! Great staff, good music, great vibe! Can't wait to come back.

SLOW. The place was empty when we ordered their special of the night (1 of 3 items on the menu) 6 bowls of ramen. They served 3, then 15 minutes later 2 more, and it was a full 90 minutes after ordering that we received the last bowl. Nothing special and no table service at all. We were boiling our own water for tea. Fried ground pork in the soup. Terrible.

Friendly, attentive service.
Tea experience was very nice. They bring tea pot with very small amounts of loose leaf tea of your choice, and you self serve. The server showed us to do a prewash and then to serve the tea cups. I would have loved more info on the tea, beyond what is on the menu. Especially since we were only other party, it was a slow night.

The miso and seaweed starter is $7 pp, in my experience those dishes are included in most dinner menus, for the size served. So be prepared.

I wanted to love my food, but though my greens in poke bowl were fresh, the chicken was a little over cooked and flavorless.
The ground pork ramen was also not a hit with our group, but they were hungry. Very small portions for over $24 ramen bowl, and $21 chicken poke.

The eating space and building itself is very nice and clean. Clean restrooms.

This is a good place to stop for tea, I would not order anything else. I really wanted to love it. Giving them 4 stars because it’s a small business, but honestly it’s more like a 2.5 food, 1 price, 4 service.

I had the veggie ramen and loved it!!! So flavorful. My partner had the ground pork ramen and loved it as well!

Looked like a good spot from the reviews but the food was below average and over priced. The ambience was nice though.

What an amazing and delicious treat in Grass Valley.
A Beautiful historic building and ambiance. Excellent service, very helpful staff, we felt at home.
The meal was so fresh, perfectly prepared and presented. Loved my teriyaki bowl and the tea was lovely.
We will definitely return and soon.

Great environment and presentation. The food was good and filling but didn't meet expectations. Expect to pay $20+ a person for Ramen or a Poke bowl, both had little meat.

Delicious food. Beautiful space. I had the special ceviche of the day, a poke bowl, and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. The perfect dinner on a warm August night! The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They have an amazing selection of teas. I love the variety of tables, from high tops to cushioned floor seating to sofas to barstools. The whole place is a vibe. Highly recommended.

Tucked away inconspicuously, Mantra Tea House is a true hidden gem that rewards those who venture inside with the best poke bowls in town. The freshness of the ingredients is unparalleled, and the perfect blend of flavors in each bowl is a testament to the skill and dedication of the owners.

I sampled the ahi tuna, trout, and chicken bowls, as well as the tuna seaweed salad. I was impressed by the quality of each. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the organic chicken had a noticeably superior taste. Portions are generous, and while prices are on the higher end, the quality and quantity more than justify the cost.

Mantra's staff are not only experienced chefs, but also trained tea masters, having studied under a local shifu. The ceremonial grade tea is steeped to perfection and served with respect for tradition.

The service is polite and unhurried. I recommend taking the time to fully savor their meal and enjoy the tea experience. The tasteful decor features artisanal furniture, fresh flowers, and wall art on exposed brick, which enhances the relaxed atmosphere. While the exterior may not catch your eye, Mantra consistently delivers an unforgettable dining experience. I can’t wait to visit again.

Finally tried out this new spot and so grateful it’s here!

Ordered the royal puer, a chai, the poke bowl and a pork ramen. I don’t know that I’d order the ramen again, the noodles were a bit chewy and the broth didn’t have a lot of flavor. But everything else was excellent. Loved the fresh fish in the poke bowl, and the teas were both lovely.

The service here was AMAZING! So kind and attentive. Would definitely be back.
The atmosphere in here is really special too lots of seating and it’s just a very open beautiful space.
