Wow! What a wonderful surprise to find such an incredible experience here in Grass Valley. This was our second time there and the Owner/Chef did not let us down. Every ingredient was perfectly curated, locally grown, and seasoned to perfection. The incredibly fresh, made from scratch, creative menu which is meant to be shared and coupled with their own crafted cocktails is the perfect backdrop for a long, lovely, and leisurely evening spent with friends and family over a extraordinary meal. The building itself plays a delightful character with lots of history, beautiful, comfy decor, and a gorgeous stone fireplace. it wouldn't be complete if the building didn't come with it's own ghosts and a few stories to round the evening out. Can't wait to come back!

Truly amazing food and service. The line caught salmon was perfection as was the flatiron and the watermelon cucumber salad. Belleville was incredible--she provided the best service we've had in years. Will return.

Probally one of my favorite places to eat in northern California.Five star food. Five star atmosphere. Five star dining experience. Waitstaff five star. The place has history and you feel it when you walk in the door. The compliments to the chief as some of the finest quality of fresh seafood and steaks with the accompaniments was lets just say....bravo. We started off with some apps with some wonderful spirits and then on to the flat iron steaks with the best mashed potatoes and succitash. Then another ordered their rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection and said it was the best ribeye they had ever eaten. I had their shrimp and grits which was beyond amazind the grits were creamy and were seasoned perfectly and the shrimp with a light crisp and a succulent taste in each and every bite.Thank you for a great dinng experience again. If I could give you 10 stars i would its worth every bite.If you get a chance to try this place out please do you wont be sorry.

One of the best meals we’ve ever had! Excellent food and service. Everything was very detailed and tasty. Will definitely be back when we’re in the area!

Great ambience, excellent service (Megan, I believe), great selections for food and drink - cheddar biscuits, rib eye, smoked carrots and rice and beans. All were excellent, flavorful and beautifully plated. We will certainly come back

We walked into an empty restaurant and were sat right away. The hostess was very nice and gave us some water. The waitress came by and grabbed our drink order and told us the sepicals. This took about 20 min for this interaction. The menu seems base a bit of a southern style, which it great and sounds delicious. It just seems a bit lacking of main dishes from the south. The shareable plate are good and have plenty. The spicy pecans are spicy and delicious. The meatball is huge and could be a meal itself. I would like to see it with more sauce or other toppings. The special was what we had, and it was delicious. The drinks where unique and you could tell they used homemade stuff. The menu of drinks is good, and the wine list is good too.The service was good and the whole process was slow going, which I like, and would be like a southern restaurant.Overall the experience was good, the food was good and the drinks where good. I would try it a least once.It great to see the Owl back and running again, but it does feel different.

Our party shared a few of the offerings of the new menu that just started last night when we were there. The Pea Shoot Salad was the best salad I have had in a very long time. The Roasted Peach Farro salad was yummy too. My niece had the meatball, it was a very good. Then we had the Crispy Prawns with with grits. The Prawns were great but the grits were not to our liking.(personal preference) OH, and the Lavendar cake was wonderful!Overall the dinner was a hit in our book. Make sure to stop in and try the new menu. We can't wait to try the other offerings they have. We truly enjoyed our dinner.

A year ago I had dinner with my friends here and thought it was a special place to eat dinner for my 60th birthday. A week before my birthday, I made a reservation for 7 pm for 5 people. We walked around Grass Valley and asked if we could eat at 6 instead of 7. They said no problem, but seated us in the bar area. I asked, if we could get a table on the other side. The waitress said that there is no space and not at 7 pm either. The seating on the red leather benches is for special occasion and that should be fun for us. The problem was, that I sat on an awkward chair and my family on the bench. I moved to the bench to feel included and it was quite tight and not festive at all. I felt disappointed that this happened on my special occasion. I made a reservation to sit on the other side and not cramped like that! The food was good, but I really couldn’t enjoy it.

Service was discombobulated. My husband ordered a flat iron steak and got a ribeye. The steak was great but he hates celery and sweet potatoes which happened to be the sides. So a different lady approached our table rudly proclaim "so you had an issue with the steak"..yea. we did not order it... and we were charged for it. About a $15 dollar difference.I had scallops which were done perfectly but the celery root salad was single layered spread along half of the plate, single layered. It looked like they were filling space with match sticks. Sooo little food when compared to the steak dish.Would I return? Not sure...

Fantastic! We were visiting the area from NYC, and were absolutely blown away by Watershed at The Owl. This is local, farm-to-table food done right - all the food was seasonal and delicious, the staff attentive but unpretentious, and the design is great too, especially in the cozy back bar area filled with antique photos and leather-bound books. Perfect location right on the lovely pedestrian main strip of historic downtown Grass Valley. Can't wait to go back!

Our reservation for a party of 8 turned into a party of 12 just one hour before we were due at the restaurant. The staff was so accommodating and luckily they had space for the last minute change. Belle took really great care of us; all food and drinks came out in perfect time and we had some good belly laughs with the GM. The space is beautiful, the food was AMAZING, and we're looking forward to returning soon. A+++ for that rare flat iron steak, y'all- cooked to perfection, truly!
