Have been visiting this restaurant for the past 6 years. Their Caldos and Carne Asada nachos are the best. Recently it changed ownership and now the service has become exceptional! They have also added items to their menu. Strongly recommend this place!

I was hungry so I ordered the steak and bacon burrito. Bacon was not cooked properly. It was still partially raw and and the meat was greasy as could be. I ate at another location before and it was never like that. I will never be back.

The cashier was very sweet and welcomed us with a big smile. We ordered fish tacos and chicken tacos. They tasted great. Would definitely recommend this place.

What's in a taco? I been looking for a great taco spot for over 2 years in town and I have found love at first bite! Let me tell you what is in their tacos! LOVE, AUTHENTICITY, AND MAGIC salsa! Cotija Tacos is now under new ownership as of 5/17/23. Today I had the pleasure to meet the new owner and personally thank her for the new change and great food! Do you know what else is amazing? The cleanliness, quick service, and wonderful customer service with a beautiful smile! Go explore their menu/shop and experience greatness. Yes, im a real person who simply love tacos and great service! Thank you for letting me taco-bout my experience :)

We decided to try this place. I ordered a Chile Relleno and Cheese Enchilada, the Chile Relleno was so fluffy it didn’t have an even distribution of cheese and had a flour taste. The enchilada was disgusting, it tasted like a super sweet mole sauce. I was very disappointed. The beans were good, the rice was ok. However, the lady at the counter was friendly.

I thought i paid for 2 hard shredded beef tacos the shells were so fried they cut my mouth. I was looking at the menu after I ordered. They gave me the 2.99 tacos w/ guacamole. NOT WHAT I ORDERED. I will not nor will I ever eat there again. If you eat there make sure you are understood what your order is.

I absolutely love their steak burrito! Authentic Mexican food for a reasonable price. The atmosphere is very festive with mariachi music and displays of Hispanic culture.Parking: Not very big parking lot.

I was visiting Hemet from coastal San Diego County. My brother-in-law took me here. First time to a Cotijas. I noticed the sign that the place was under new ownership, new management, and new employees. A young woman greeted us with a smile. The overhead menu was easy on my eyes. I placed my order with the friendly cashier and soon realized the young woman was limited in English. No problem. This retired teacher needed to shake off the rust from his Spanish. I helped her with my brother-in-law’s order as well. I had the enchiladas combo with mole, and my in-law had the tacos combo. No complaints. No food poisoning. Place was clean. Saw only two customers during our visit. What stood out was how courteous the cashier was. She said she arrived recently from Cuba, and this was her first job in the US. As we left, she politely bid us farewell and to come again soon. I commented to my in-law that I hoped this young new immigrant would always have that courteous enthusiasm in her new journey through life in America.

Our first time in after being closed for remodeling. Noticed they're under new owners. Soon realized that wasn't the only thing that's changed. Seems like the food quality has changed as well. Ordered the cheese enchiladas. They were tye saddest excuse for enchiladas. Swimming in a red sauce that tasted too sweet. The things were tiny with no cheese in them what so ever. This used to be my go to place. Now its just another mediocre taco shop in Hemacinto. Which there's already plenty of. Very disappointing....

Food is ok at best if they get it correct even better if the cooks decide to work last few times I've tried to come in I was told they're closed because they have no cooks ... really disappointed seeing as the SD location are awesome

I usually enjoy carnitas soft tacos from our local Mexican restauranus here in Hemet. Unfortunately, the carnitas tacos served me today here were the worst I have ever had. They were almost all grissle and chard ends from the outside of the meat and almost no edible carnitas meat in each Taco. They were also way to salty. I know what good carnitas tacos should taste like and these were absolutely terrible. When I commented to the girl at the front desk who also acts as a server that the tacos were the worst I have ever had she didn't apologize or try to make amends by substituting for something else. She simply acted like she could care less that they were serving such horrible food. Her only suggestion was to disagree with me saying she would try the tacos herself that the cook was making. REALLY? She was calling me a liar and that I didn't know good carnitas soft tacos. Thanks for the attitude there.Save your money, don't eat here, go somewhere else for good food with no bad attitude. Try Las Vaqueros or El Jalapeno both excellent places to eat and be served by decent friendly staff. Was at the restaurant at 4:35pm.

Just came here thinking it would be like the og Cotijas. Huge disappointment. We went to order, you could only pay in cash so we went to atm. Came back and they had no fountain drinks, no aguas frescas, we tried to order beef tacos only asada was available. We ordered rolled taco de papa, they're like mashed potatoes in overly fried shells and none of the toppings listed were on there. The guac was old and bitter which made my tongue tingle. My sons asada tacos were just thrown together and my husband's asada burrito had none of the items listed on the menu inside the burrito. Never again. And it's not even like it was busy. There was NOBODY in there, guess now I know why.

I ordered 2 mojarra's through Doordash and both mojarra's (fish) were RAW with blood dripping from the mouth. They must not have integrity for their business or care about customers.

Service becomes available when you ring the bell. The restaurant was empty and tables were picked up as if the were about to close. Positives: Cashier was amicable and gave me suggestions when I asked. The shrimp diablo burrito was good. Very Spicy, which is what I wanted. The red salsa had good kick. Not so positive: The beef was dried out and looked and tasted old. It was disappointing because it would have been kind of the cashier to have just said they were out because the rest of my order were all beef items that were inedible. Owners: please shrink the menu to dishes you can make consistently well with fresh ingredients and you will have a better result, as well as reviews.
