This restaurant used to be my go-to restaurant for fine dining and delicious seafood, but times have changed. The customer service depends on how busy the restaurant is or how much alcohol you are consuming. The ambiance depends on where you are sitting; most of the seating seems old and worn out. Some areas get really noisy and are almost deafening. The quality of food, well that has definitely gone downhill. When I went for my birthday, my prime rib was a terrible cut and overcooked, yet priced like it came from a MICHELIN Star restaurant.

For the better part of my life, this establishment has been my top choice for indulging in succulent King Crab Legs and savoring bites of the finest Prime Rib Dinner. Bringing home the leftovers is always a must! The impeccable service never disappoints, and the prices are remarkably competitive for such exceptional fare. Very Old School legitimate feel for coastal SoCal. We have been celebrating special events here for years. It has a dark cozy feel. It hasn't changed over the years, and we hope it never does!After a cocktail at the bar, we enjoyed appetizers of King Crab and escargot. Having satisfied our King Crab desires, we both enjoyed their scallop entrees. Their beef is excellent, but we come for their acclaimed seafood.Parking: The valet is easy to use once you understand that it begins down a short alley (behind neighboring businesses) to the right. Just look for the signage. It will just cost you a nice tip. It's much easier than using the street parking (which is a matter of luck and timing). Enjoy

My reservation was at 5pm, I ordered prime rib medium rare and 45 minutes later was delivered a large well done cut of prime rib. I asked my waiter to exchange it for a medium rare cut like I had ordered and instead he came back with a menu asking me to select something else. He stated that all the prime rib was cooked the same. Very odd. Since that is what I came there for, I didn't order anything else, just had some of my wife's crab legs and we left shortly thereafter. As I walked through the restaurant on my way out, I saw at least 6 different tables with people eating their nice rare/medium rare cuts of prime rib! Very upsetting. I've been coming to Captain Jacks for over 40 years and the last few times things have just been off. I'm not sure if there's new management or ownership, but sadly I don't think I'll be coming back. It used to be excellent.

Seated in a weird table all the way in the back. While eating 2 women outside on the deck start smoking their cigarettes and the smells of their cigarettes are practically all we smell at that point. After a raging headache we decide maybe it's time to go. When we asked the uneducated server about it she proceeded to say "yeah I guess it's allowed" Literally horrifying: and a public health hazard might I add.

My husband brought me here for my birthday last night. What an experience. Loved the set up and ambiance of the restaurant. It was quite busy for a Wednesday night! So that should say something about the place. Delicious food, wonderful service, I loved how the whole crew worked together, but Billy was by far the one that stood out to us so I'd like to say Thank you for making our evening wonderful. He was attentive, and gave us great recommendations on food! I had sword fish and my husband had lobster tail with prime rib. I tried all of it lol, so good! Can't wait till we come back here again.

We love it here. Make a trip down from western Washington state once a year and always make a trip to Captain Jack's. The BEST!
Amazing food and service! Nice ambience great for special occasions. The steaks are delicious and I highly recommend the shrimp cocktail. Best to have reservations though as they get very busy, especially on the weekends and holidays.
