Just a quick heads up, we just ate there this evening in the hibachi dining area. We always so look forward to the experience and the chef’s entertainment. Unfortunately, the chef (wearing all white) gave the impression he didn’t want to be there. It seemed as though he was just going through the motions. I watched him at another table a bit later and he acted exactly the same way. We were so disappointed, especially after watching the chef wearing a black shirt.

We came here, with reservations for a party of 7 for a birthday party. We ordered multiple varieties of sushi and other rolls, the food did not disappoint. Our two favorites were the volcano roll and crunchy roll... truth be told, we ordered 8 different types of rolls, and all of them were delicious! The waitress discovered it was a birthday party, they brought 3 scoops of ice cream with a candle on it, took a Polaroid pix of our group, and gave it to us with a little Birthday frame! I would totally recommend this place to anyone loving sushi! Oh, on the other side of the restaurant is the teppanyaki, we're going to try that side next time! So come out and support your local small businesses!

My husband and I had a nice dinner at Matsu. He got the sushi dinner which had a very nice assortment. I got the shrimp and vegetable tempura which was quite good, but a little disappointing on the veggies. The veggie tempura included white potato, zucchini and mushroom. Standard tempura fare usually includes sweet potato, Japanese squash, broccoli, green beans and onions. The Matsu assortment was bland and disappointing. The shrimp was okay. There are so many Japanese restaurants around now that I don't know if I will be back.

I have lived in Huntington Beach for years and just recently came to this place for lunch. I went twice in one week! It's just that good. Service is impeccable, the food, so fresh and the ambiance just puts the cherry on top. I've found my new favorite sushi/lunch/dinner spot, right down the street from my house!!

Come for the Tepan. This the best priced and highest quality Tepan place anywhere near here. I've been coming here for decades with my family. Small, quaint, bar is out of the late 1960's. They also have a sit down restaurant but I've never eaten there as well always come here for the Tepan. Much less than Benihana's in mu opinion.
Went for the first time tonight and will definitely be back. Great food, great service, and reasonable prices. Awesome date night vibes with cute tables in the regular dining room
