If You like noodles, dumplings, or bing (Chinese flatbreads), this place is a must visit. Unlike many other restaurants who claim to specialize in these sorts of dishes, 101 Noodle Express actually uses different types of doughs for different dishes. This means that the texture and mouth feel of a machine cut noodle will be different than that of a hand pulled noodle, and believe me, the difference is noticeable. The variety of dumplings is also quite remarkable. On this most recent visit we ordered the vegetarian dumplings as well as the ground pork dumplings; both were very good but I give a slight edge to the filling of the vegetarian one. Also, they now accept credit cards.
This place was good many years ago. Today's meal was one of the most disappointing I've had in a long time. Dry overcooked chicken, pork that had a stink to it. It seems as if the owner or chef has changed. Better off going to any other Chinese place in the area. Cash only.
Beef roll is excellent, shrimp dumpling ok, pineapple fried rice not good. Cash or Venmo only
The hot and spicy beef noodle soup is the item you want to go for. Sadly the pan fried dumplings came out raw and not very good. We have been here many times and the quality of the food has dropped, despite the prices going up. I suggest you stick with their noodle soups and not get anything else.
The Chinese food is very good authentic Chinese food. I've been there in the past and the food is excellent. Despite only having one waitress working at the restaurant, the service was still quite fast. I always try to get the hand torn noodles with the beef noodle soup (or spicy beef noodle soup), which is much superior than the regular noodles. I recommend this Chinese restaurant.
Excellent place to enjoy authentic Chinese. Even though they were extremely busy, they made sure we were well taken care of. When ordering, they took their time to make sure we were clear about what we were ordering. Make sure to bring cash. They don't accept credit cards here.
Great bowl of oxtail cut noodle soup for a cold night. The broth was clean tasting with beef flavor. Our first time there and we definitely will come back
Very expensive for what you get! Got the minced pork with hand tossed noodles. Portion was on the small side for the price and the noodles were extremely disappointing as they clumped together into large, chewy blobs. Pork itself was fine but not memorable. They also only accept cash but don't have signs posted anywhere visible as you walk into the store, so be careful. Considering the multitude of excelent Chinese food options around, I would not recommend 101 Noodle Express.
The beef rolls are different than before but they were still good. We also got the soup dumplings and steamed dumplings, which were also very good. The service was a little slow but overall it was pretty good.
Great steamed dumplings and oxtail noodle soup. The noodle soup can use a bit more meat. The cucumber salad was also great with the meal.

Beef pancakes! Must to have every time I goes by Irvine. And lamb noodle soup that no where found.
Pre covid this was the place to go for authentic Chinese food. Since the pandemic, the prices have gone up by a lot and the portions have stayed the same if not less than pre covid. They don’t accept anything except cash which makes it more inconvenient. There are plenty of other alternatives which may provide better value.
This is one of our go to places for beef noodle soup with hand torn noodles, beef rolls and dumplings.
This place is the one I always prefer. I visit plenty of restaurants but to this place I constantly return again and again. The stuff is very professional and the cooking they serve is so fresh and tasty. I am always happy to have a nice meal in this place. I highly recommend this place.
We came here for lunch with 3 kids and 2 adults, the service was horrible, plus they charged us 18% tips without telling us, we had almost tipped them again without knowing. They said it's in the fine print on the menu for party of 5 or more, 18% is a must. Dishonesty people there, we'll never come again.
