Usually good food but went there last night for a take out order and they were closed even though it said they were open online. I asked someone at the restaurant next door if Dear Chengdu had closed and they said yes. It was disappointing to hear that because my family really enjoyed their food.

My favorite Chinese food in Irvine, and the closest to actual Chengdu food I have had in the US. Mapo tofu, dry fried beans, and the cumin lamb are all amazing

You have to be careful with this restaurant if you use the delivery service. The customer ordered dinner via Hungary Panda yesterday. There was no apology for the wrong meal at all, only sophistry. When requesting a return of the single dish, the merchant refuses to retrieve the single dish over the phone, and the video for destruction of the food is required to receive the refund for the single product. After the customer refused the video, the merchant personally said the dirty words (verbal abuse) to the customer. The dish has not been opened at all, and the dish was left at the front door overnight and no one came to fetch it. The customer's cell phone can NOT send a video message. This restaurant claimed the excuse of asking the video is "Prevent eating free meals!"

I liked this place. I'd say their food tastes not authentic but still tastes good. E.g. a sweet n sour spaneribs doesn't taste like sweet n sour spaneribs, not authentic, but it's delicious if you don't eat with expectation of what this dish should taste like, similar to Chinese food in Panda Express lol. But overall, good price with still delicious dishes. Good for take out and sharing.

Really horrible food. This is the second time we ordered from this place. The first time was more than a year ago, shortly after they opened. The food was pretty bad at that time. But we thought maybe we should try some other dishes and gave them a 2nd chance. After all, we do like Sichuan cuisine. This time we ordered 4 dishes. But all 4 were really bad. They were all brownish with the same bland taste. I think the cook used the same sauce for all of the dish. It was so bad that we end up throwing all of it away. Don't order from this place. Even fast food is better than this.

Authentic Chinese spicy food. If you are looking for a serious kick of hit chili pepper, this is a good place to visit. Be warned that it may burn, BOTH ways....
If you can't speak Chinese you probably might want to avoid. Everything is pretty much in Chinese as well as the cliente. The beef soup was very good but a little expensive. Service is pretty much nonexistant. A solid three stars of food balanced out by service.

Mom was craving some 烤鱼 (grilled fish) today so we decided to order some from here along with some spicy chicken. We ordered over the phone and they were very quick with our order (ready in 30minutes). The fish definitely met our expectations. It was very flavorful with a good amount of tasty fish meat. The chicken was a bit dry and over-fried but the fish definitely made up for it.
