Great place inside Mitsuwa market in Irvine for Japanese donuts after a Japanese lunch at Misasa one stall away. And donut is free with a cup of coffee order! Donuts are made of rice flour so more tasty & chewy.

Modo has perfected the mochi donut sough. No one has managed to make the dough as chewy yet crispy like Modo does. I love all their flavors because it's not extremely sweet where you get sick within bites but its enough to get a swift of sweetness that leaves you craving for more. My favorite part about this location is that they make it fresh to order. Everyday they have the same classic flavors and occasionally special flavors that they rotate. My three favorites so far has to be the black sesame, cookie butter, oreo, and hojicha!!

If you're a dessert lover, you gotta try MoDo !!! This place is just so amazing. I have heard of the mochi donut trend but didn't think much of it. It wasn't until I tried this place, I now prefer mochi donuts than regular. This isn't my first time trying mochi donuts, so I was familiar with the taste. I was surprised this place is located in Mitsuwa, in my opinion, it's kinda hidden. If It wasn't for Yelp, I never would have known about this place. I think this business would thrive more if it had its own storefront. The flavors were a bit limited & I am so very boring when it comes to flavors. I got the honey, Oreo & dark chocolate. My favorite was definitely the honey. FYI it doesn't taste like honey at all, it is like a light glazed donut. Everything else was just okay in my opinion. With the chewiness & the texture, the mochi donut doesn't need much as they are so good already. I want to say each order is made fresh because the times I have come here the box is so hot & donuts aren't edible until they are cooled down.

Fresh mochi donuts! We ordered the cookies and cream ones and they were very delicious! I highly recommend eating them warm!

First time trying Modo was ah-mazing!! Placed an order online through their website and ordered one of each flavor that was available. I got a total of 6 for $14.80, including tax. 1 Lilikoi (passion fruit) 1 Matcha 1 Cookies & Cream 1 Honey-Glazed 1 Dark Chocolate (regular) 1 Dark Chocolate (sprinkles) The donuts are made to order. Guaranteed freshness! We grabbed a table at the food court and tried the donuts right away. So chewy and delicious I can't wait to come back!

Thank goodness the pre-order days are over. I used to have to find a friend who would split an order with me so I'm not stuck with the entire half dozen donuts. Then I would have to plan ahead as to when I'd get the half dozen with the friend. That was not convenient. Today I went and ordered one hojicha donut and ate it immediately after they handed it to me. It's so good when you eat them warm and freshly made, kind of like eating a warm Krispy Kreme glazed donut! Once it gets cold it's not the same anymore. Highly recommended only if you can eat them right after it's made.

This place is great. The key is that the mochi donuts are made to order!! They must be eaten immediately imo to really taste a mochi donut properly. All other places that I know of; cook it ahead of time. My current flavor ranking 1) sugar 2) black sesame 3) cookie n cream 4) lilikoi (it's one of the most popular, but I don't like it personally)

Ever since the first time I tried these mochi donuts during their pop up at the original Mitsuwa location in Torrance, I was hooked. I've tried other mochi donuts since but they just don't compare. I've also been to the original Hawaii location, also inside Mitsuwa, but i think the Torrance one is still better because they cook the donuts as you order them to ensure you get the freshest quality. When you bite into it, it starts off with a crispy exterior until you get into that soft and chewy center. I love pulling each round balls when I eat them and I love the assortment of flavors they have. But beware that they switch up the flavors! My fave flavors so far are: matcha, cookies and cream, black sesame.

This location is within the grocery store. It was a very interesting first bite. The doughnut was doughier than I was expecting. Then I found out that these doughnuts are suppose to resemble the Japanese desert mochi.I ordered the Matcha Green tea, Coconut, Cookies and Cream and Blueberry. Each flavor had their own unique taste that was deliciously satisfying.I don't know how they were able to make doughnuts have the same texture and mouth feel as mochi but they've done it!So come and enjoy a new twist on a traditional favorite that will have you craving for more.

Bruhhhh, again, had to try it 5 times on very random occasions and some on the occasion that it was already bought, and forced to buy. Started out not liking it at all, but as time went on trying during those 5 random times, grew to enjoy it quite a bit. Got it for the fam, they really enjoyed it, so I say this place valid. Always a plus since its inside Mitsuwa marketplace.

Modo mochi donut was the first mochi donut that I had and it definitely will not be the last. I keep on coming back to modo every time I'm in the area because their mochi donuts are that good! Nice chew, not too oily, the glaze is always good and there are different flavors to choose from. By far, the black sesame one is my favorite, rich and creamy and tastes just like the Chinese black sesame dessert!

Delicious mochi donuts! MoDo is conveniently located in the Mitsuwa grocery store... (too convenient!) 1 donut: $2 4 donuts: $8 6 donuts: $12 12 donuts: $23 They have their flavors of the day posted on the wall so you can easily pick and choose what you want. I love their black sesame and cookies and cream donuts!

Best mochi donuts!! They're soft, chewy, and have a slight crunch. The glaze is perfect and not overly sweet. The mochi donut isn't incredible greasy like other places. This is located inside Mitsuwa.

If you want a taste of Hawaii, go to MoDo. MoDo is located inside Mitsuwa supermarket in Irvine. They specialize in Mochi Donuts, soft and perfectly chewy! I've tried most of the flavors, but my favorite flavors are lilikoi, black sesame, and dark chocolate. You won't be disappointed. Lilikoi flavor is passion fruit, really fruity with a sour tang and not overly sweet. Black sesame flavor has a creamy toasted sesame taste to it. Dark chocolate flavor is not overly sweet and who doesn't like dark chocolate. I highly recommend anyone traveling to Hawaii to try the original MoDo, but the location in Irvine does hit the spot.

Who’s down for mochi donuts?Highlights of the menu:1. Lilikoi: a bit sour with a taste of passion fruit, the popular and also my favorite2. Matcha3. Black sesame4. UbeThe flavors of the mochi donuts are really vivid. The colorful glossy glaze on the donuts makes them so yummy. Having also the signature chewy texture with the crunchy on the outside. Especially, eating when the donuts are still warm. So good!
