The menu looks good and they should taste good but I can’t eat here because they cannot or will not replace the pork in the Jajangmyeon which is a shame. Why don’t they consider those people who don’t eat pork?
Stir Fry Noodles dish tasted great. Big portion at reasonable price. Open atmosphere and many tables around.
Paik's Noodle, owned by Chef Jong Won Paik (one of the judges from Culinary Class Wars), provides korean-chinese comfort food in the H-Mart located in North Irvine. And does it deliver!!
Paik's is known for its Jajangmyeon (fermented black bean noodle stir-fry) and Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup). Their noodles in all of their dishes are perfectly chewy, and satisfying for hearty noodle lovers. If you're new to these dishes, the noodles are like a mix between an udon and ramen noodle, typically using thick, wheat flour.
The Jajangmyeon hits that spot when you want a comforting meal with an umami punch. This dish has a perfect balance of sweet and savory (more on the savory side), with flavors oozing from caramelized onions, the salty, smoky, and decadent fermented black bean, and a generous portion of elongated ground pork adding a nice meaty touch. For meat lovers, you can order this with extra meat, and for vegetarians, they offer the dish without meat at all. They even have a seafood version of this dish!
The Jjampong uses the same noodles, swimming in a spicy broth infused with seafood umami. With muscles and chunks of tender squid and the occasional baby shrimp, the soup is so rich in flavor and satisfying.
While there are other strong dishes here, the noodles are the star. And each dish is accompanied by Korean pickled radishes to provide fresh, crisp respite between indulgent bites.
Sitting within the food court, there is no traditional service, but the staff are friendly and very quick - even during peak hours. It's easy enough to find seating, but during busy times, it's best to secure seating earlier if you can unless you plan to take the food to go.
If you're looking for comforting, filling, and delightful noodles to switch up your Asian noodle-ventures between ramens, phos, pad thai, and more, you should explore the menu at Paik's. You might just find yourself hooked by the flavors - after all, that's Chef Paik's most important criteria when judging good food.
One of the best spots in town for Jajangmyeon and Tangsuyuk(Sweet & Sour Pork)! If you’re in Irvine, be sure to check it out at the H Mart Northpark food court.
This is my family’s favorite.
My children love Jjajangmyeon and Spicy Jaengban Jjajangmyeon. Tangsuyuk is delicious and crispy.
We had looked around in Irvine for the best taste.
Here is our choice. Taste is as good as most of people like it over all.
I am grateful that I can come here when I feel like eating Korean Chinese foods here in Irvine.

9/24/2024 I dined at Paik's Noodles and was disappointed to find that my jjampong had a distinct soap flavor. It raised concerns about the cleanliness of their dishware. The presence of soap residue on my bowl left an unsettling aftertaste, making me worry that the staff might not be rinsing the dishes thoroughly after washing.
This isn't just an isolated incident. I've noticed my partner experienced a similar soapy taste as well. It's alarming to think that this might be a common practice. Proper rinsing is essential for flavor integrity. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously, as it raises hygiene concerns. I would recommend the management review their cleaning protocols to ensure a better experience for future diners.

I don't know why this place was rated terribly. I thought the Jjajangmyeon was delicious. Although it did suck because this restaurant and the rest of the food court do not give free water which is dumb in my opinion. Other than that I had no problems at all. Just make sure you bring your own water bottle.

I used to go when they were at zion and their food was good then but service / atmosphere is Korean style from 90s and early 2000s - not rude necessarily but since they are too busy, they miss here and there. The relocated place in hmart I have gone twice and the food is still high quality but clearly, they were busy as hell, but I don't mind the wait as long as high quality food is on the other side of the wait.I'll definitely come back again

I prefer jjajangmyeon more than jjamppong, but the weather was cloudy and it rainy, so I was craving jjamppong with spicy soup, so I came to eat jjamppong at Paik's Noodle (Hong Kong Banjum). I enjoyed the jjamppong while sweating over the moderately spicy jjamppong soup, chewy noodles, and the spicy taste. The noodles were not mushy and soggy until I finished eating them, so I enjoyed it so much. ?
