About Chai Lan

Chai Lan is a popular restaurant serving Chinese-Korean cuisine. The staff is friendly and the food is deliciously oily, according to reviewers. Recommended dishes include tangsuyuk, jajangmyeon, black bean noodles with onion and black bean sauce, garlic fried chicken or shrimp, and beef with scallion/onions. The seafood fried rice requires a pinch of salt to bring out its flavor. Some dishes, such as mapo tofu and fried pork, may not appeal to every taste. However, the restaurant's commitment to using fresh ingredients and making food in-house is commendable. Reviewers praise the restaurant's clean environment and convenient location, although parking can be challenging at peak hours. The place is great for hearty Chinese-Korean fusion food, with dishes like jajangmyeon, jajangpong, and tangsuyuk being favorites. The spicy jjangpong helps wake up the taste buds, and side dishes such as spicy radishes and pickled yellow radishes pair nicely with the main dishes. The ambiance is reminiscent of a fast food restaurant, making it a good spot for quick, satisfying meals. Overall, Chai Lan remains a reliable choice for those who love Chinese-Korean flavors.

If you’re craving jjangmyeon in Irvine, this is the spot for you! They’ve got tons of the classic dishes that pair perfectly with jjang and its flavors. Plus, the portions are generous, the service is top-notch, and you’ll feel like you’re in Korea because you’ll only see Koreans enjoying their meals here.

Great portions for a great price! On par with the food I had in Korea. The jajangmyeon tastes bland but that's solved by adding a little bit of soy sauce, just needs that salt to really bring out all the flavor.

incredibly kind staff and delicious food with very generous portions! will absolutely visit again if i come by irvine again. i looved the tofu.
