I got the black sesame soft serve and was slightly disappointed at the underwhelming presence of the black sesame flavor. I might just focus on the tayakis next time.

Excellent dessert spot. I like the takoyaki separate because it comes out hot and delicious. I do succumb and my go-to single order is the upside down takoyaki with the soft serve (it's delicious but the takoyaki fish cools down quickly with the soft serve). The desserts and service are always excellent, and they get your food ready quickly. Excellent location given all the restaurants around it

I always love Somisomi! The line was long, but went by fairly quickly. Staff looked busy. I loved the convenience of the ordering tablet, which saved a lot of time. We didn't get soft serve but instead ordered the Hotteok Taiyaki and Cheddar Cheese Taiyaki — Both were warm, soft, and comforting. Perfect sweet and savory desserts for a chilly night in Irvine! :)

Came here with my wife and another couple for a casual dessert night and Somi Somi hit the spot. We went with the classic taiyaki waffle cone and chose ube and banana pudding. The balance between the two was surprisingly really good. The banana pudding brought the sweetness while the ube was more subtle and paired perfectly. My wife loved the banana pudding and I was all about the ube. The ice cream itself is super creamy but still light and airy which made it easy to enjoy. The other couple got cookies and cream with matcha and that combo was just as solid. We also added custard inside the taiyaki which was the perfect finishing touch. The place was busy even on a random night which makes total sense. Friendly staff great flavors and definitely worth stopping by for a date night or dessert with friends.

First time visitor, tried the custard tayiaki. It was light but flavorful. We had the order of 5 items; others had similar comments on the different flavors being light and not too sweet. The outer pastry was good but not crispy. I would try the ice cream bowl with cookie next time.

Ice cream is good like usual. Will not return because parking and no usual discount.

The ice cream tasted like the ones from Japan. I didn't believe it until I tried it. But the pastry of the fish shell was actually better than many of the ones I had tried in Japan. It's no wonder there are so many people lined up for this
