Ordered the blackened salmon and appearance was really great. Nice presentation! How ever it was a complete disappointment. The food was cooked fine, no problems there but there was no flavor at all. The vegetables were bland, the blacked salmon was not blackened but bland, and the long grain and wild rice was bland too. Another person I was with ordered the same meal and felt the same way. How can you have a meal that looked great, was cooked just right but had no flavor. Service was very good and it's a cool place.

We were able to get a table, without a reservation which was nice. It took a minute for the hostess (costumed-angry raggedy Ann) to acknowledge we were there. I got the feeling she did other jobs too... maybe server assistant. The restaurant was sufficiently quant, clean, and well-decorated. The star of the show was definitely the server. She was friendly and even ran upstairs to grab me some decaf.
Now for the food- I got the ribeye and my wife ordered the steak medallions. Both were good- and the price was more than fair. My wife typically doesn't like steak- and always get medium-well- she said the medallions were still so tender/juicy. And for $32, I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor, presentation, etc. The Ribeye, $40- was prepared excellently and was prime ribeye. The flavor reminded me of a picanha steak; it came with compound garlic herb butter which complimented it nicely.
There was a large party in the next room that shared the attention of the one server- she handled it beautifully. The bartender did appear slightly bothered to make the drinks for the large party (she had 7 folks on her side to worry about)-
I wasn't too sure about a few things- I found it odd there wasn't warm bread or rolls- especially for a place called the Duke (which screams steak, potatoes, bread). But at the price point (low for such great food), this was not an unmet expectation.
Then the costumed-angry raggedy Ann- its the week of Halloween and the hotel itself was decorated... I'm not sure if she was angry, hated her job, or playing a character. Nonetheless, the service and food were on point- so it didn't diminish our experience. We'll likely make a trip back sometime.

I really don't like to give bad reviews, thare's enough negativity in this world. So it was quite refreshing to come to an establishment whare my hard earned money gets me a high quality meal. No disappointments here, no regrets. I highly recommend Dukes.

It might very well be a different experience when dining in there, but our experience for takeout yesterday was just terrible. When calling to place a takeout order, we were told takeout orders must be made in person at the restaurant. When at the restaurant we were asked why we did not call our order in on the phone. Clearly there is a problem with someone who answers the phone for the restaurant. it took quite some time for the food to be prepared, then when it was obvious that there was something missing from the order, staff insisted the order was complete. This resulted in all containers having to be removed from bags and opened to determine what was missed. After much apology, the person helping us recommended that we not frequent this business again, because it's just not good. I will say that aside from the very very bland steak and mashed potatoes, and the disappointing cheesecake dessert, the other foods that were ordered were good. It's very disheartening to frequent a local business and have one of its own employees recommend that we not return because the place is so bad.
