Keep in mind we went here on a busy morning with only one waitress(they were not expecting the crowd from the Starfest event that ended early that morning). So it might have been due to that, I'm not sure, but easiest description of the food and coffee is average, best description would be like eating at Denny's. But the atmosphere made up for it or I would have given it a 3 instead of a 4 star rating.Pancakes were a little too dense and dry for my liking, they soaked up too much syrup or too little there seemed to be no in between.

Visited here after a night spent stargazing in the desert. The Miner's Diner had become our go to spot for breakfast over the years, but I think this visit has caused us to rethink that tradition. We arrived to find it packed and critically understaffed. I understand that after COVID, the service industry has struggled, but when we asked about it, the manager said he didn't understand the rush despite all the NASA shirts. The perseids have been a thing for... Well, a long time. For him not to have foreseen it and scheduled his staff properly wasn't our fault.Nevertheless, we persisted and after about 30 minutes our group was seated... Separately. There were seven of us and, despite not being a problem in previous visits, they refused to push two tables together to accommodate our size. One of our tables had their order taken and food delivered before we even had our order taken. They managed to finish eating before our food arrived. When it did finally arrive, they forgot our order of orange juice (thankfully they brought it out at the end of the meal and comped it).The food was only okay. Felt like the kitchen staff was rushed. Their menu also seemed abbreviated compared to previous years. Not sure if they're under new ownership (which would make everything make a bit more sense), but they have a Bible placed front and center as you enter with verses displayed in a very obnoxious manner. I don't mind frequenting a religious establishment, but I dislike feeling proselytized.

Went here for breakfast after hiking the 3 sisters falls. The staff were very friendly and patient. The atmosphere is nostalgic and relaxing. The food was delicious, fast, and relatively cheap. The local hot apple cider is delicious, will definitely visit again!Kid-friendliness: Have a bunch of ice cream, homemade sodas, and a small train that circles the ceiling.Parking: The earlier, the better, after 11:00 A.M. parking is rather difficult to find on weekdays and weekends.

The Slaughterhouse burger is moist and delicious & fries were so crispy. The staff were nice and friendly. Definitely the kids will enjoy the train and the Candy Mine store.

We visited the miners diner in May for an early lunch before getting some pie. I loved the vibe and decor of the diner and the little train that went around. The service was excellent and very quick, staff were friendly and attentive. My dad had the soup and myself and mum had the chicken wrap with fries. The portions were big and we could have shared a wrap between two. The food was delicious, all the ingredients tasted fresh and the fries were the best I’ve ever tasted! I wish we had been in Julian for longer so that I could have eaten here again, that’s how nice it was. They also have an underground candy shop which was interesting to look at.

A very lovely decorated restaurant designed like a sofa shop from the 1950's. The food is good, but overpriced. A regular burger and fries with two sodas cost us $21.00. I didn't get a refill as one was never offered and our waitress didn't really check on us. There are not many options in the town, so you eat what is available or make plans to teach the next town.

Super great place!!!! The food is 11/10!! Looks like an old vintage movie in here. Definitely have to eat here if you ever visit Julian! Try the Tri Tip sandwich. My German family who were visiting me said that the Bison Burger was unbelievably good!!

Great location in Julian. The decor is awesome. The service was fair. Polite. No smile. No apologies for tipping over my malt on the table. Just as well, the malts were more like watery milkshakes. The chicken wings were dry. Not only overcooked, but barely sauced. We've been here many a time through the years. Each time the quality has been a little bit less and less. Too bad. They used to have the best fresh made malts in San Diego county.Parking: Good luck finding parking.Wheelchair accessibility: Uh... Nope

Fantastic food, if you're looking for a spot to get lunch, this is the place to go. The food is amazing, the environment and atmosphere have that very rustic vibe, and the service is great. The fries come out piping hot, and the burger is perfect. Prices are reasonable, but the one thing about Julian is the parking gets tricky, even on some weekdays.

the only reason Im giving this place 2 stars is because they have a cool underground candy shop but everything else about it is awful.upon first walking in you are greeted with an old fashion soda pop store vibe and a cool train that runs along above you...but thats where the magic ends.the seating is set up where the customers are packed in like sardines.then you get the to deal with the rude waitress. she started off by saying "we dont do custom orders". okay? we didnt understand what that meant i guess because my dad was first up to order. he says he would like the burger with no onions.the waitress replies with "it comes with onions but you can take them out if you dont want them" ... umm ok.my dad says "no just dont add them"she gave this story about how they dont do anything different than what the menu says and she could get in trouble.I said "okay my dads allergic to onions then. please do not add them".at that point she says okay and we move to the next person but each order was an obstacle.we love the city and visit the pie company often and didnt want to let this experience ruin it so we ended the visit with a trip to their underground candy shop. it was going great until the candy came out to $50... no thank you.We put it back and headed to the pie down the street. never coming here again.food was delicious though.

This place has a nice throwback atmosphere. Both the food and service were good, although I did think it was a bit pricey. But Julian is a tourist town.plan on spending approx $20 per person. Oh yeah, and they don't have alcohol. But overall I recommend and will come back.Food: 5/5

Went there for breakfast, when I got there I had the opportunity to be at a table right by the window which was amazing. The place is super cute and has a great menu, my waitress suggested to have “The Border” (Breakfast burrito)with ham which was insanely delicious; the egg, cheese and ham combo was just delightful and fresh. She was super nice and friendly! I highly recommend this place, will most definitely come back!!! (Happy I was there in time before morning rush, in a couple of minutes place was full).

Fantastic! Hand's down a great atmosphere, friendly service, wonderful meal and unique experience. I had the onion rings, tri tip sandwich with au jus and chili cheese fries. Of course in Julian so I also had a hot apple cider too! Nice. Special treat was the over head train and underground candy mine, wow!!
