This place is so underrated it's unbelievable. When people think of Mexican in La Canada, they always think about Los Gringos. Understandable--it is a social spot and the decor is a bit more updated to say the least but if you're going for actual food and service, Dona Maria is the clear choice for Mexican in La Canada and really for the whole Crescenta-Canada and Pasadena/Glendale areas. Ample parking, that's never a problem. The place looks like an iHop with the blue painted brown. The people who work there are super nice. Service is always great. As for the food- it is decent. Some dishes better than others. I particularly like the Enchiladas Yucatan, which has green sauce and carnitas inside. Overall, the food is too salty. If they backed off on the salt, I think it would raise another star. Very decent. Not bad but not particularly stand-out....read full review

Staff can't really speak any English... anytime we had a question, they would go get the host. Place was busy but it's tiny. The crowd is the same crowd as Taylor's steakhouse in La Canada. Food is ok but Pepe's in montrose is better and less expensive. Didn't care much for the ambiance. I think the place was full of their regulars...we won't be going back though.
