Great service from Ryan. My boyfriend and I were looking for the Death By Chocolate ganache cake. It was not there it was Sunday and all the cakes we're gone. Ryan was a helpful man who took our order and we paid for the cake ahead of time. He said the cake served eight people. I said we would eat it the next four days. He gave us a wow that's really cool. Maybe not as great as the flagship store in SB (wouldn't know, never been and it's in a grocery store for crying out loud!), BUT if you're in the area and want an incredible croissant and great coffee, this is the place! Yes, the tables aren't always super clean, but, um...it's in a grocery store! Hahaha This is not a Parisian cafe, a Beverly Hills bistro, etc. so keep your expectations in check. I had been to Renaud's Bistro in Santa Barbara (and loved it) and had high hopes for the Patisserie inside Gelsons. Unfortunately, it does not live up to the original. I was looking for a flourless chocolate cake for a friend's birthday. I was assured that a chocolate cake (with ganache and chocolate crisp balls) was flourless.
