I eat chocolate daily. I am forever searching for the chocolate desert that can satisfy my craving for something sublime. This is only the second time in my life that I have had a perfect chocolate desert. I ate an entire slice of the torte, and I enjoyed every luscious bite. The layered textures and tastes were spot on. Well worth it.
I got an assorted dozen minis (a combo of different cakes and tortes) as a surprise for my dad’s birthday while we were in town visiting family, and they were a big hit with everybody! Also got a slice of the Gateau Aileen and it was so heavenly. Online ordering was easy & pickup was a breeze. Glad this spot is in La Jolla, I need to come back to try the banana cake next time!
I don't typically like cake, but the Gateau Aileen cake is hands-down the best tasting (and most beautiful) cake I have ever tasted and is worth every penny. They take great consideration in wrapping it to keep fresh if you won't be eating it that day (or have a long drive home in the heat, in my case). I wish I could get it delivered, but it's never available to me for the smaller cake size I order. It only prevents me from ordering it more frequently, so that's good, I suppose....read full review
