Great service! Warm chips and salsa served as you settle in… lots of yumm options to select from.. definitely recommend the tempura cauliflower appetizer! Unfortunately the chile relleno, corn enchiladas and kids cheese and bean burrito were all too cheesy for our liking. But if you enjoy cheesy food, you’d totally enjoy these.

My spouse and I came in this past Wednesday evening for dinner.
We had the queso and split a couple taco plates. The cheese dip was good, but it got cold quick, which caused it to be firm and not very dippable.
The tacos (Baja fish and steak) were not great. We liked the fish taco over the beef, but only slightly. The fish taco was absolutely covered in greens and stuff that really overpowered the fried fish filet. The carne was bland and cut into such small pieces it really had zero mouth-feel.
The overall lack of heat and flavor, along with the temperatures really leaves a lot to be desired.
Mexican food in San Diego is either amazing, or mediocre. This is the latter.

We had an amazing meal! The food was delicious but the service we received from Chris was even better. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and had great opinions on what dishes to get. She knew exactly when to check back with us so that we got what we needed when we needed it but also allowed us to enjoy each other’s company.

VERY BUSY BUT WE WERE SEATED RIGHT AWAY, HOUSE MARGARITA AND BLONDE ALE VERY GOOD AS WERE THE CHIPS AND SALSA. SHRIMP COCTAIL VERY DIFFERENT BUT GOOD. THE CRISPY CARNITAS AND FLANK STEAK WERE EXCELLENT! WE WERE TOO FULL FOR DESSERT. NEXT TIME WE WANT TO COME EARLY FOR HAPPY HOUR.
Love this place. Have been 6 times, brunch, happy hour and dinner and every time the food and drinks were phenomenal, top quality, with great service. Chef Gabriela came out during brunch to introduce herself during bruch, it was a really nice touch. I have yet to be disappointed. Clean and fun atmosphere in the heart of the La Mesa Village. This is now one of my favorite restaurants!!

We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were so happy to explore this area of town. We loved the atmosphere and the street the restaurant is on.
The decoration and the vibe are elevated Mexican style it reminded me of San Miguel de Allende, the service was on point and they were super kind to us making recommendations and warning about the spice level of one of our dishes, as well as making sure to note and celebrate our anniversary with a complimentary ice-cream and candle.
Our food was delicious, we had the surf and turf burrito and the sirloin enchiladas, both portions are big so we ended up with leftovers. I would suggest tasting the sauce before ordering the surf and turf because you might find it spicy.

Wonderful food & service. Very unique menu. However, during winter, maybe they could close a few windows.

The food was amazing. The guacamole was perfect and flavorful. Friendly staff and ambience is very nice. Highly recommend for brunch or dinner.

Food was great, service was a little slow and the place wasn't busy at all. Tables are very close to each other so you will have no privacy. But it was nice to have brunch with long term friends.
Always a delicious time at Casa Gabriela. It was really nice to meet Gabriela as she greeted guest at their tables.
We have frequented many Cohen restaurants. Our feeling is that most have gone downhill since Covid. So, this was a breath of fresh air. Food was authentic and unique. We are locals and are grateful to find a Mexican restaurant with tasty entrees.
We were there to celebrate my in-laws’ wedding anniversary. We were a bit disappointed that we mentioned this when making the reservation, but it was never acknowledged, nor were any congratulatory words offered.
We thought the outdoor garden area would be nice and beautiful, but it was actually quite chilly at night, even after they turned the heater on. I would highly recommend reserving an indoor dining area if you’re planning to have dinner there.
Parking is limited to paid street parking, and the meters turn off after 6 p.m. Be prepared to park farther away and walk a few blocks.
The food was pretty good and had great flavor, but we weren’t fans of the cactus in one of the dishes.
Dessert was the highlight—great portion size and tasted amazing! We had the cheesecake flautas and would like to try out some other dessert if we ever go back.
The staff were friendly, but it seemed like they were a bit short-staffed. It sometimes took a while to get our water refilled and to receive all the service we needed.

Paul made our night! He was impressively professional, thorough, and helpful. We had a couple special requests and he was very detailed and dedicated. Savanna and Julianna brought out our entrees in such a streamlined manner, it felt extra fancy! Thanks for a great evening!
