I grew up by Helix High School, and haven't eaten at Shirley's in probably 30yrs... What a great decision I made today! May be one of the best tasting burgers around. I won't wait another 30!!

I stayed near Purdue Avenue from June to August 2024. My buddies and I are from the South Korea Navy, and we were in San Diego for helicopter technician training. We really wanted to experience American diner culture, and there was an awesome local diner near our place. We went there three times. The friendly staff pouring coffee, the delicious pancakes, hash browns, and fried eggs… I still can’t forget them. Do you remember me? The stylish South Korea Navy guy who had his last Sunday breakfast before going back to Korea and gave you Korean cash as a small gift 😆

absolutely scrumptious. i got the biscuits with gravy, sausage, 2 sunny side up eggs and house fry potatoes. wish my potatoes were a little crunchier but i cant even take away points because the seasoning was fire

*I'm editing my review after this last visit. Today I invited a friend for breakfast. My meal was $14.49, hers was $10.99. I had water and she had milk. I did do a substitution, the pancakes for biscuits and gravy which I was told would be a $1 additional charge. Somehow our bill came out to $36 and change. It just doesn't add up even after considering the tax. Unfortunately their food quality has also diminished. The gravy for the biscuits tasted like raw flour. Very disappointing. My omelet was also dry and overcooked and did not have much of the spinach, mushrooms nor cheese inside. There were several bites that I ate where it was only egg. I might still come back in the future, but today's visit was a huge disappointment and they need to improve their billing practices and their food prep.
