I'm a long-time customer, but my last visit might have persuaded me to stop. The problem with Vallarta Express on Jackson Drive in La Mesa is that one day you'll go and get decent food, and the next the same item will be borderline inedible. Case in point, last week we got the adobada burrito and it was smashing. However, the following week the pork was so undercooked we had to take the contents out of the burrito, cook it ourselves and then Google medication to remove potential parasites. I recommend going if you feel lucky, otherwise stay away. Another thing to note, within six years the fajita plate increased in price from around $10 to now $17! Why?

I think this is one of the better chain Taco Shops growing in San Diego. They have a bunch of locations now. They also have a lot of unique burrito options. I love Chile Relleno, Huevos Ranchero, and Philly Steak Burritos. The regular stuff like carne asada, carnitas, pollo, etc.. are all good also. The red sauce is really good, just not my perfered red Taco sauce style. The food is always good and you will enjoy.
The burritos are delicious here and chock-full of meat. The only thing I don’t love about this location is that their burritos seem to be a little smaller than the ones we get at the Clairemont Mesa location.

Best Carne Asada burrito in town, and the best red salsa in town. I love the smoky carne asada flavor, and the spicy red salsa. I don't get a full burrito often and usually split it with my wife unless it is from Vallarta I will eat the whole thing. The breakfast burritos are also good but in my opinion it is the salsa that makes it better than most. The salsa is the best in town.
I when to buy 2 Fajita Burrito today and I ordered two beef burrito fajitas and I was very disappointed! It almost had no meat! It had more onion than meat. and It tasted more like terrible vinegar. I will never return to this place again!

If I had the option to give them zero stars that would still be too many stars. This is the nastiest taco shop in San Diego.

Carne tastes like rubber. Chewy and flavorless. And the worst salsa in town.

If you want a very skinny burrito that tastes like garbage for $13 then this is the place for you. You've been warned.
