HANDS DOWN!! This is the best chinese food on the west coast. (BONUS: It is also the closest we have ever found to the chinese food we grew up eating on Boston's North Shore and in Fall River on the Southernmost Coast of MA.) JUST PICK ANYTHING on the menu. Seriously!! Between the four of us each ordering something new and different and sharing it all with the rest every time we come here? NOT ONE OF US YET hasn't absolutely loved EVERY SINGLE THING we have tried. We're just working our way down thru the menu now -- start to finish!!

The staff is completely amazing. We really do adore these ladies. Every time we walk in? They have remembered us!! no matter how long we went between visits!!

And don't even get me started on the amaaaaaazing cocktails and the great bands that play over on the bar side of Wong's on the weekends.

It's obvious why they've been - and why they will remain - right there in that spot in La Mesa since that summer when we invented the wheel.

Parking: There is always parking [in the lot next to theirs in the evening as well as on the street] within 1/10th of a mile from their front door.

Place looks great and the servers were alright.... the food makes me think that they gotta be laundering money cause they can't be surviving off of it. Would not recommend

While visiting my son and his wife in San Diego, he took me to Wongs. The food was great, the staff was friendly and accommodating even though we arrived near closing time. Our service was fast, we sat in a little room between the restaurant and bar area that had a koi pond. Would definitely recommend, for budget friendly dining.

Vegetarian options: Vegetable tempura was our appetizer. I had Szechuan vegetables for my entree, vegetables were crispy and fresh.

came to Wong's for Sunday Funday karaoke, Really enjoyed myself so I would come back again, after 2 Sunday Funday events, I noticed the upchages for thinks. karaoke fee went from a 1 time charge to a every drink charge, then I noticed a charge for a splash of juice to every drink, when I get a titos & soda wi a splash of Cranberry. when I first started going, 2 drinks were $14.00 and now with the upchages 2 drinks is $25.50!!!!! Nothing has changed in my order.

Be careful eating here. Everyone who ate the food we ordered had diarrhea. I ordered online and they took the money but didn't have the order because the online ordering function doesn't work. I had to wait, which made me late to my event. Everyone who ate the food has called to say they had diarrhea. The health department will be notified.

I ordered takeout on Postmates. The beef in oyster sauce was basically beef in oyster sauce soup. The chow mein proteins were overcooked and there was no flavor. Im going to guess they were cooked separately and added to the dish toward the end which is why no flavor set in. No color to the noodles. The dishes were entirely prepared improperly. I am 40, I have never sent a complaint to a restaurant but these dishes were terrible. Couldn’t even stomach the chow mein. The buffalo wings were decent but not even an option for ranch much less the traditional blue cheese dressing for dipping. What I received does not look like what is being posted by these positive reviewers. Worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. I’m a well traveled certified cook, although I don’t cook for a living anymore, and have been in restaurants for much of my young life. It’s better to have 5 things on a menu you do really well than a huge menu where you cut corners and utilize a large amount of pre-prepared ingredients that aren’t allowed to fully cook as intended to create a cohesive single dish. Minimize the menu and retrain on popular dishes. I’m not sure why the reviews are so mixed but it seems they’re really weak on their takeout. It also seems they have been open a long time and maybe inflating food prices are making it hard with such a large menu but I can’t believe people that care about keeping their business at all would let such poorly prepared food leave the store. It’s astounding they’re still in business. Or maybe just have one good cook and I got the bad one? I dunno. The photo is the “chow mein with soft noodles” that I couldn’t eat. I thought of trying to repurpose the ingredients and make it taste better but the smell when I opened it today (ordered last night) was less than appetite inducing and I will be trashing it. Go ahead and google “chow mein with soft noodles” and let me know if you would consider what I received as the same dish.

The older lady running the place is rude and short. I ordered a shrimp fried rice to go. 17 bucks for a single serving of rice with 5 small shrimp and huge chunks of green onion. This place is impossible to park at, even if you pre-order by phone for a to-go, you're screwed because she won't let you park between the handicap spot for 20 seconds to pay and go (there'salso a cocktail lounge attached, so lot is packed). So, yeah...just overpriced, mid shrimp fried rice.

Horrible prices for horrible food. 17 dollars for shrimp fried rice. They complain if you park there for some reason? Like what? The service is terrible, not one person to communicate with properly. This place used to be it, now its looking like "IT" from Stephen King. A very weird atmosphere, they have some weird spitefulness in the air. Truly a dishonor to chinese food.
