Unfortunately I thought this place would be more than it actually was. TV's were on (CNN politics) detracting from the atmosphere I had anticipated. No jazz music playing at all which would create a NOLA atmosphere. Loud conversation of employees coming from the open kitchen. Food was fine just lacking overall classiness. Things listed on menu were not available and greens were not fresh. Disappointed.

Best soul food ever in the OC support your local black owned restaurant. I will be coming back here again for some more their spicy jambalaya is to die for. I really love a good jambalaya this place serves it right! It hits you in the spot you don't even know you had lol cravings satisfied. I am glad I have found this gem in OC if you ever have cravings for soul food this place is it! I love that this place gives you plethora of food. It was so loaded and packed that we had to take some home too. Best part is the leftovers haha am I right ? Their Mac and cheese is also to die for best one Ive had so far! You know it's good when the cheese pull is epic ! I hope everyone gets to try this small restaurant out and give this place a chance if you like spicy food or Cajun food in general. I know it might not be the same but I say this place has approval from me ! Cheap, delicious, affordable and friendly staff here too.

My family and I got takeout from here recently. We got the gumbo, jambalaya, cajun pasta, and beet salad. Everything was delicious! The gumbo and jambalaya were spicy enough to satisfy me, but not to the point where you felt like your mouth was on fire. The cajun pasta was so good! Kinda sad we went family-style because I could've eaten 3 servings of it :P The dressing for the beet salad was a little too sour for my taste but still good. All the entrees come with yummy cornbread too!

Took my Dad here for his birthday since he's from the south. I'm not sure if it was because of Covid but their already limited menu was limited even more. Everything we came for they didn't have. They didn't have shrimp and grits. They didn't have waffles for the chicken and waffles. The pasta was soupy. The macaroni and cheese was runny. The food wasn't favorable. We were the only people there and service took a while. The waitress was nice and polite it was just slow. I was shocked because a few of my family members had such great things to say about their food.

This restaurant has really taken a hit with Covid-19 restrictions. There used to be live music here and the vibe inside looks great. However, being limited to just take out and a small area for outdoor dining, the food isn't flying off the shelves like it should be. I recently discovered this place after my business moving into the same shopping center. My favorites have been the shrimp and grits, hot links benedict (especially their hash browns), jammalaya, catfish and their spicy chicken sandwich. Service is always great and friendly. The food is awesome and I highly recommend!

Fairly new cajun food restaurant in La Palma that has potential but business has been hit hard by the pandemic. The restaurant is small yet still set-up to entertain patrons - complete with live music and a full bar - and give them the full experience of being in New Orleans without actually being there. Hopefully when all restaurants can resume normal business hours and activities, I could offer a more complete or comprehensive perspective. Right now, it is TAKE-OUT ONLY. When it came to their dishes, I thought the jambalaya and the beets goes on salad were noteworthy. The shrimp n' grits (too clumpy) and fried okra, however, were a bit disappointing. I personally felt the portions do not justify the price of the dishes. The savory dishes were also served lukewarm. Friendly service. Located in the strip mall in front of Kaiser Permanente-La Palma.

Ok sorry for the low rating but I must say that $21 for jambalaya that has 4 pieces of average sized shrimp is a bit overpriced. We thought it was delicious and enjoyed the flavor profile but I would have to order 3 of these to fill me up (not counting the large scoop of rice included) We also ordered the Louisiana catfish and enjoyed that as well. Decent portion but $20 is a bit high for what was served. These were said to be two of their popular dishes so we gave it a try. All in all, the place was clean and nicely decorated. Staff was attentive and pleasant. Food was delicious. Thank you for providing delicious food but I don't think we would return. For 2 meals, 2 adult beverages, and tip cost $80+. I believe I can get better value elsewhere.

Heavily disappointing... had mean to try this place for quite sometime due to really good reviews but when me and my friends tried the food was one of the worst tasting food... the jambalaya was VERY bland tasteless and the pasta style dish we ordered that they said was popular literally had 0 taste and pretty much tasted like I was eating plain pasta with nothing ... the server was really nice and she was very accommodating and when my friend told her the pasta was terrible she offered to take it off tab but we still payed for it and she was very apologetic.

Food was hot & well seasoned! Service was great because there was no one else in the restaurant! Covid is killing our local businesses slowly but surely. If you are able, go out & support our restaurants as much as possible, so when all is said and done, we'll have some places to go to enjoy freedom! Meal was great!!

Here is an honest review from my takeout experience 9/12/2020.Service: The service was great! Very welcoming . I was greeted by an Asian girl at the counter who was nice... I thought the place was black owned, but its not. Food: I ordered the Gumbo & my husband ordered the jambalaya. The portions of both were small (12oz containers). Sorry, I did not take take any photos. The Gumbo's flavor was sooo bland I was able to count the 3 shrimp, 5 chucks of chicken and 5 sausages, 2 pieces of crawfish. It did not have an authentic gumbo flavor and was nasty af. My husband said Jambalaya was also lacking flavor and was more like a soup. It had about the same amount of meat/shrimp as the Gumbo. I would not recommend ordering the Gumbo or Jambalaya. Maybe there are other items on the menu that are good. I probably won't come back to try them. I would Definitely recommend you try your food before you drive home and if you're not satisfied ask for a refund.

THIS ISNT ABOUT THEIR FOOD OR SERVICE BUT FOR ANYONE THAT MIGHT BE CONSIDERING DRIVING OUT OF THEIR WAY TO TRY DURING COVID.Drove out of our way today just to arrive to an unopened restaurant. Business hours said open at 10. We showed up after 11. Hours listed outside the business also confirm they were supposed to be open at 10. In times like these, I would expect restaurants to be a bit more...on top of their business hours.

Visited last weekend in the afternoon for the first time to order takeout as I was craving some delicious Shrimp 'n Grits and found Gram's Kitchen from searching on Yelp. The online menu on their website was a bit confusing because the food I was interested in (shrimp n grits, gumbo, jambalaya, etc) was at the end of the dinner menu so my initial impression was that they only served those items during dinner. But it turns out they serve those items all day.Food: I ended up ordering the shrimp and grits & beignets (which wasn't on the online menu, I asked over the phone if they had any desserts). I was pleasantly surprised to find the portion very generous (especially since the price is on the higher end) and that it came with a piece of very yummy cornbread! The shrimp 'n grits sauce/broth however, was rather salty so I couldn't finish the shrimp which really absorbed the saltiness. I really enjoyed the grits though! The beignets were not beignets (if you've had real beignets, especially in louisiana). They were way more like thick croissants in the shape of those little bite size square pizza rolls with a little powdered sugar sprinkled over them.I loved that they were friendly and had my order ready to go once I arrived. Next time I would ask if they are able to make the shrimp n grits a bit less salty.
