It’s closed! I’m not sure if they are closed for business or if something happened and they are just temporarily closed. It says they are open but showed up on a Friday night and they were closed. Sad I didn’t get to have it one more time before they closed.

Visiting from Brooklyn NY, back in 2017, we knew the seafood would be fresh. We sat at the bar and ordered a la carte, wanted to order everything at once but that didn’t happen. Uni was so good and fresh.

Great experience and even better food! Extremely unique flavors, had me wishing I was hungry enough to try more of their creations. A must-go in Laguna Beach.

I have given many 5-star reviews to sushi places I really like; I would like to give 6 to this one. If you like sushi, go, go now. Make a reservation. Do yourself a favor. The style is not traditional, but all recipes have some twist. It's not really California fusion sushi, the style is much more subtle, and it makes the place unique among the many sushi restaurants we have been to. The restaurant is tiny, only a few tables and bar seats for walk-ins. Not the best place for a business dinner or more formal occasion, but you could bring a date here - one that loves sushi. The selection of fish is rather small, nothing really exotic. The sushi shine with many clever touches to all dishes, a little sauce here, some extras there. The sashimi with truffle were phenomenal. The nigiri sushi were a delight, every single one was a textural and tasty sensation, and we had seconds of several. The one roll we ordered was wonderful. And the kids loved the chicken teriyaki and the maki with only rice made to order. The service was very friendly and personal, we felt welcome and had a great evening. We will be back and are really looking forward to it.

We couldn't get into any of the larger more "popular" restaurants on a Saturday night in Laguna Beach without a reservation and boy are we glad we didn't. They had a few seats here available at the sushi bar at around 7pm, it's very intimate and cozy inside. Our waitress Emily was the best. Super kind and welcoming and gave some great recommendations. Now the food....we are pretty big sushi lovers and always though oh just straight pure Nigiri with high quality fish can't be topped. Oh can't it said 242....the fish quality is amazing and each dish is an experience to say the least. The chefs somehow add these flavors you'd think would be impossible to pair with raw fish and make you wonder why you never thought of it. We were mind blown and our taste buds were thrilled. We just sat in silence after because we didn't even know what to say. Below is a list of what we got. Also their names of their items are so poetic! I love it. Everything was incredible and highly recommend: Bush & Pond Fusion Roll Sweet Sour Hills Salad with Eel Orange Sand Beach Appetizer Nigiri: Yellowtail Yuzu Jalapeno Tuna Purple Cabbage Salmon Passion fruit basil Albacore Green onion with chia seeds

The gals here were fantastic I live in Laguna Beach and this is such a wonderful secret me can't believe it took us so long to get here. You're not supposed to use soy sauce lol but they're fusion sauces were great

This is a small local sushi restaurant. Thanks to Yelp I knew to stop in. We started with the give you energy appetizer. Fresh yellowtail, Serrano chili, garlic, cilantro sauce. The hot spicy bay roll is fully cooked yellowtail, shrimp, salmon, whitefish, eel inside, crabmeat, avocado sauce, creamy miso, spicy soy garlic sauce. We will be back

Sooooooo yummy! A truly interesting menu that actually WORKS for deliciousness! Also, because they don't use soy sauce this is GREAT for gluten free people. And you'd never guess it's missing because the flavors are incredible! It was also very cool to see all female sushi chefs while we were there. It's tiny, but has a very cool vibe and pretty much ruined sushi for me anywhere else lol.Dietary restrictions: Great for gluten free people!

After many years of walking by, we finally visited. The food was amazing and the service was incredibly friendly. We will definitely be returning. I have to say that I feel that the reviews here don't really reflect what a gem this small neighborhood restaurant is. We were fortunate enough to come right at opening and got a seat right away. I would recommend a 4:30 seating, you won't be disappointed.

DO THE OMAKASE. TRUST ME. I have dined here at least 20 times. It's a wonderful experience. Tonight, my friend, Dana, and I dined here and opted for the omakase for the first time. We are in tears---of joy. You're welcome in advance. Do ask for the truffle beet scallop and albacore chia seed soy and koji. Crème brûlée was also stellar.

Just because I want to keep this place a secret.... I didn't want to leave a review. But I love it here!

Hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had. My favourite restaurant in California. Great location, wonderful service and delicious sushi! If there are certain flavours you enjoy, they make sushi to fit your preference. Also well-priced.
