Chelas Mexican Kitchen is a relatively new spot offering solid and tasty Mexican food. Guests order at a counter and can grab drinks like Mexican sodas, beers, or sparkling wine from fridges before finding a seat. The service is friendly and quick, though it can take a while when busy. There is seating on a first-floor patio with high chairs and a really nice upstairs deck with an ocean view, perfect for watching PCH roll by.
The food is delicious and packed with flavor. Popular items include the La Calle Taco Combo with perfectly charred steak, incredible breakfast burritos, and to-die-for carnitas that are crispy and flavorful. The homemade taco shells, smooth beans, good rice, and chips with chipotle salsa complete the meals. Portions are large, sometimes leaving no leftovers. While prices have risen on the breakfast menu, the happy hour menu prices are great. Overall, it is a little gem highly recommended for a great meal with a view.
