They should have never gotten rid of K’ya. K’ya was the best- the style of small plates/tapas and decent prices was much better. The new style- There are a hundred restaurants like this in Laguna/Newport. Terrible decision and I won’t be wasting money there anymore. The staff now is also not as good as the old staff. What a shame. Ruined a good/unique thing. I go to Laguna all the time now and it’s either empty or closed. Absolutely horrible management to ruin what was a great thing. Sad.

Great atmosphere and service. Drinks and food were ok. The online menu was not up to date, so only a modified version of the summer menu was available.Parking: Parking is not included.

A friend and I visited while waiting for some car issues to be solved. Sunshine and Lucas were awesome company to be around at that time. We met other staff, can't remember their names, but they were super friendly. The drinks were great. Even met a few new people at the bar and talked all night.

We were really looking forward to a meal here, but sadly left to find a different restaurant for a few reasons. (1) the menu given to us at the table was markedly different from and more limited than the one on the website. We chose this restaurant based off of the menu that met various dietary restrictions. (2) There was only one dish the chef could make off of the new menu that was vegetarian and it was pasta w/vegetables. (3)The main bar was closed on a Sunday in the middle of a long weekend. The place was pretty empty on what was a busy night in the area and we ended up walking to a different restaurant.

Awful at responding to reservation request. Called several times, mailbox full unable to leave message. Emailed as well. Got response that "One of our representatives will get in touch with you shortly." No response yet.

The service was poor and the food quality not worth the price. I went with a group of eight. We had to try flagging our server down several times to order more drinks. One of the meals was not as expected. Instead of making a fuss, we just ordered another item. The server forgot about this order and never returned to our table. After waiting way too long for this dish and the bill, half of the table ended up having to leave while the rest of us waited and paid for them. That forgotten dish; we ended up having to ask to have them make it "to go" after waiting an hour for it. We received it after paying.... Oh, also, the place got way too loud to really hold a conversation. I'm not sure if that is the acoustics or just the customers that were there that day. But, I will not be returning.

I've been to Comedor several times in the last few months. They recently got a new chef, who I knew from another favorite Laguna restaurant. The focus is on presenting high quality local ingredients, brought to their full potential with minimal fiddling in the kitchen. The Pei Pei oysters were carefully prepared, washed and shucked and served with two different kinds of cocktail sauce. They were firm and super fresh. I loved the local ahi tartare, as well as the Wagyu served with crisp green beans and a creamy butternut squash risotto. Dessert was a light and creamy pistachio cake, which was the perfect ending to a great meal. The cocktail program is strong, and the wine list, while limited, pairs well with the cuisine. Service was friendly. Comedor is one of my new favorite places to hang in Laguna. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning soon!

Charming with live music and a lovely building, but service is not trained or available. Understaffed, very expensive entree items. to the point of not wanting to return. Cannot recommend due to poor service and understaffing.
