South of Nick's Laguna Beach

Always constantly good food and awesome wait staff! One of my favorite places in the SoCal area!

Had an excellent queso fundido to start, especially with the tortilla chips which made for a unique nacho experience. I enjoyed the four tacos, each one better than the next. My wife enjoyed the combination meal while my son had the Carnitas. Overall, very pleased with the meal. Especially pleased with the wine prices of Belle Gloss Dairy Man from the Russian river at $56 a bottle. Not sure it's that cheap at Ralph's

This place has become one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. The food is delicious.. The margaritas are the best. Tamarind and Cucumber margaritas are a must! Our waiter (I forgot his name, I'm sorry) was the BEST!. What a great service he provided, he was very kind to us and to our kids, and very patient every time my kids asked for lighting the candle, haha, super nice, and polite. Seriously, he was amazing. I hope he will be our waiter forever. If we can choose the waiter during the reservation, I will definitely ask for him. This restaurant never disappoints us, we will come back soon for sure!

We had a great time! Food was perfect as always and JT (our server) was very professional, polite, informative, & just a great server. We love how the whole team works together! Looking forward to another trip to Nicks!

Service was excellent as always and also - we grieved over the removal of chicken taquitos from the menu - our main go-to item!

First of all we were NOT seated until 25 minutes AFTER our reservation time of 6:00 pm. We asked twice and the hostess said they were waiting for customers to leave even though they had closed out and paid. Once we did get our food, it was not hot at all. Two other reviews also mentioned this. Service was also slower than expected. We will not be coming back. (“...you need to learn how to hold a reservation,” - Seinfeld)

We had an amazing view from the table where we sat. We ran a little late for our reservation because of traffic but despite that we didn't have to wait very long to be seated once we arrived. The service was great and the food/drinks were amazing! South of Nicks never disappoints! It's definitely a go to in the OC.

Both of our local Nick's restaurants are consistently excellent. Delicious menu, fabulous cocktails, great staff, and an amazing ocean view. What more can you ask for?

We had a great table and great service. The portions were big and our food was delicious. We wanted to go back again during our stay but it was all booked.

Absolutely love this place! We always go the Nicks and this was our first time try South of Nick's! It did not disappoint! The La Tabilta was suggested to try, by our friends and we devoured it, the entire meal was delicious. Drinks were amazing and my wine was fitting with my meal. We definitely will be back and Nicks may miss us for a short while 😊

This restaurant has such a happy vibe, we love the food and the ambiance. And the service is amazing.

I always love South of Nicks and the food but I am disappointed that the butter cake is not a gift for those I bring for their birthdays. I was really disappointed that I was charged 14 dollars for this. Melodie Davis

One of our favorite Mexican restaurants in Orange County. Nicks regular restaurants has reputation for excellent food, great service etc. This has continued with the "South of Nicks" Mexican restaurants. Food is very good and different that just tacos and enchiladas, this is a way above average dining experience. From the chips served at beginning(the best we have found anywhere), the accompanying 2 salsa/bean dip are excellent. The Cadillac Margarita is also the best we have found in southern Calif. and that is saying a lot. A wide choice of different Mexican food is offered and everything we have tried from about 6 trips has been very good. Birria (SP) Enchiladas, Soft Tacos were tried this time with no disappointment. Service: Not sure if allowed to mention name of server, but Collette was so good I will anyway. Genuinely interested in providing good service she checked with us often and was well trained in providing a good experience. Our experience is that all Nicks employees provide the customer with great service. We dine out often at all types and levels of restaurants, so we have come to appreciate a very good dining experience and South of Nicks always provides that experience. Pricing is more than the average Mexican restaurant, but you really do receive "what you pay for" at this establishment. We drive from Huntington Beach 16 miles to dine at this restaurant. Wise to make a reservation on line as usually quite busy.

Food was excellent, service was not great. We got rushed out of there - never offered a second margarita or dessert.
